Motivation Dip Advice
Morning All,
I have been working out and dieting for 4 weeks and have lost only 6lbs.. I am in gym 4-5 days a week for an hour each time .. I'm supposed to go in this morning but I've lost all interest in it :( I used to really like it.. I have 3 more stone to go. I'm wondering if anyone else has hit this wall abs how long did it last? I honestly feel like going back to bed but I have a trainer and if it was not for that I think I'd be hitting the pillow.. [url=http://www.TickerFactory.com/]

Re: Motivation Dip Advice
I've been dieting and exercising since the end of November and have hit a bit of a wall myself recently and currently trying to get back into it so I feel your pain! But since you are starting off I would do a total review of what your doing to see why you are losing interest so quickly. Have you kept a food diary at all? Are you eating as well as you think? I know I go off radar sometimes without noticing. Are you sure you are giving your body enough energy to keep up with all the exercise? I do believe that you need to eat to lose weight, just that you need to eat sensibly and support your body. Are you drinking loads of fluid? I think 1.5l-2l per day is recommended but you'll need more when excercising. I know some can come from foods but I find drinking water really helps.
I don't know if there is any truth to this but maybe some rest will help? I was going really hard at it after christmas and suddenly stopped losing weight, maintaining or tiny loss each week (I'm in a slimming world club). I was exercising every day (gym, running or horseriding) and was not giving myself a break, so I took some rest the following week and lost weight! In saying all that, 6lbs in 4weeks is still 1.5lbs per week which, if you were further along, would be a great result. I can understand that you are wondering why its not more though as you are starting off. I think a lot of the initial dramatic loss people experience is water so maybe if you were drinking water before / watching salt intake, you didn't have so much fluid retention? Also, have you have AF during the 4 weeks? I find that gan give me a false gain or maintain and I'll see the real results a week or 2 later! Don't give up hope - its going in the right direction! Re: Motivation Dip Advice
Thanks a million lollypopbride.. There are a lot of items there that I need to review that i hadnt even thought of. Its given me a boost to think that tehre are some actual reasons why it is not coming off as opposed to me just having to work harder and harder all the time.. My waterintake being a definate one, I dont think that I am drinking enough for the amount of exercise so i guess I could be retaining

Ah no hassle Ghizzy Whizzy!
Feel free to take a look at the slimming world thread in Health & Fitness,we are on big motivational drive at the mo cos a few of us have been falling off the wagon. Plus you might pick up some recipes, SW is basically about eating healthily so you could easily try a few recipes without necessarily following the plan! Some of the girls do the plan online anyway but there are some links to websites that are spin offs of SW and have lots of recipes. Check it out! I know it can be lonely even with others trying too. I'm lucky as OH and my mam are also trying to lose weight (weddings are great motivators) but it still is tough and ultimately up to me. Especially when I'm with friends who are not so understanding or trying to lose weight themselves! My best friend is pregnant so is on a totally different wavelength! Well I would def look at the basics like what you are eating and def regarding drinking water. I know from my class that some women do no exercise at all and still lose through diet alone! Now personally I believe in fitness as I think its part of the overall weight loss package and keeps you extra healthy - but it shows how important a healthy controlled diet is! I do still have treats though - I've done the diets where I can have nothing and I never stick it. I'd say try to design or pick a diet for yourself that you can sustain even when you are where you want to be and is just sensible eating - maybe just a bit more controlled for now. For sure AF can affect it! You'll see that mentioned lots in weight loss threads! Especially if you feel bloated or uncomfortable. I usually only gain a 1/2lb or maintain but I've seen some girls say they gain a few lbs! Plus you have to be extra careful not to give into cravings as its just plain harder around that time! A food diary is great, even just for a week or two if you have a regular routine. It helps make sure you are eating as much as makes you feel guilty about going off radar if you have to right it down!! Make sure you have breakfast! I gym it in the mornings too and have a small piece of fruit to kickstart my metabolism (would be lost without it) and then have breakfast when I get into work - Weetabix with low fat milk and chopped banana. I do be starving after a workout and need to be prepared so I can be sure what I eat is good when I'm like that! Yep yep, good luck to us! We will get there! Do you run? Maybe having a target of doing something like a road race or something might help the intensity off the weight goal? I adore running, thats why I ask!
