1 Stone to Lose - targeting Tum&Bum - who's with me?!

1 Stone to Lose - targeting Tum&Bum - who's with me?!

Postby Tallwan » Fri Mar 23, 2022 10:56 am

Hi All,

I fluctuate up and down weight wise.

Last year, I reached my highest weight yet. I had one of those moments looking at a picture of myself and i was like :o( when did i get this big? That was in September and since then, I've already lost 1 stone and 10 pounds. :o)ll

I feel now though that I've plateaud (sorry for spelling).

My diet is fair good. I've cereal for breakfast and a yoghurt, salad and rivita normally for lunch and then meat, two veg and potatoe for dinner. Any snacks that i tend to have are fruit. I don't generally eat after 7pm.
I try to walk about 5 times a week, but am losing weight from everywhere else but my tum and bum and thighs!

Am going to try do a burst of excercise for the next four weeks - anyone interested in doing the same? could do with the support online here! :wv

I'm with you - hate my bum and upper thighs...also my tum but mainly my bum (rhymes!)...just went back to WW...have lost 2stone since November 2008 (went travelling etc in mean time) but have managed to stay around the same weight for the last 3 years...wedding is just over a year away, need to shed/tone the last bit!! Going to the gym a lot lately, trying to do the couch 2 5k thing - maybe you could try that instead of just the walking? Might help you shift a bit more? You sound like a great eater though - I've been such a pig the last few weeks - had McDonalds yesterday and while I did point it, I feel now it was such a waste!!

Brill SN2013! :-)

Haven't seen the couch 2 5k? What's that about...slowly getting up to 5k? Would be willing to try anything!
Motivation is deffo dropping a lot recently, so that's why I'm on here.
Don't be annoyed with yourself about things you've eaten - take each day at a time...cause if you keep looking back and being annoyed - it'll be really hard to be happy with yourself...each day without that bar of choccie is an achievement!! :-)
I remember when i was with Unislim a few years ago - i ate a whole packet of biscuits...and when i had to point them - i was so annoyed with myself...think i was able to have an apple for my dinner that day. lol!

Bring on the beach bodies for us! :-)
I'll let you know how I'm getting on!

Any others out there that'd like to join us?

Yeah it's an app for the ipone/ipod...although I'm sure you can get it for other things too...yeah I'm on week 2 only but it's walk 5 mins (obvioulsy not a stroll), then run 1.5 mins, walk 2, run 1.5, walk 2...repeat four more times, then walk 5 mins...all in the aim of eventually gettin you to run for 30 mins I think! Anyway finding it really good, coz she talks in your ear over the music that you have one and it definitely keeps me going!! Plus 30 mins is a doable amount of time!

Ah yeah I know - just need to get back into it! I'll get in a routine again!!

Plans for the weekend? - going to try get to the gym tomorrow and we live near Phoenix Park so going to get out there on Sunday for a bit. Have an exam in three weeks so unfortunately studying has to take preference but beach body needs to get a look in too :)

Hello, it's fatarse here :-8

I need some motivation to lose about a stone myself. I'm at the heaviest i've ever been at the minute and my clothes are getting tight. I been consoling myself with food lately and that's the main area i think i need to focus on. I was pregnant coming up to Christmas and i had the attitude of 'sure my body's going to go to pot anyway' so i pigged out a bit :-8

The couch 2 5k sounds really good and with the clocks going forward this weekend i'll be able to fit it in before it gets dark. I'm investigating that as soon as i get home

Fellow fatarse here too, I'd love to start the couch2 5k thing, I need a good kick up the arse to get started though.

Every day this week I've said I'm going walking and havent gone yet, it looks like it might rain, I'm too cold etc. When I get out walking I feel great and I could walk for hours but its just making that first move is the problem.

I was a bit wary of the couch 2 5k as I normally walk around town and I dont want to be a spastic stopping and starting. My hubby is very fit and he's trying to encourage me to go with him but I'd be mortified because I couldnt go very far without keeling over!

Anyone in the Louth area to come and give me a kick up the arse??

Hey sorry Mrs W - in Dublin myself...seriously though, I'm the laziest person you'll ever meet - my OH will attest to it (he's mad into his fitness, it's so annoying!!)...if I can do it, anyone can. Sure I'm in the gym stopping and starting, look like a bit of an eejit but sure no one takes a bit of notice, and if they do, I don't notice that they notice!! :) Plus if you're running/walking you'll pass people a lot so they won't know you've stopped and started! Is there a better route you could do for yourself rather than in the middle of a town (people might get in the way) like housing estates/park? Any cheap gyms near you?

Sorry - I'm no use to you either - I'm in the west.

Couple of tips for ye...

Head out for a set circuit - make sure you know the route you're going to take and stick to it, as otherwise you'll turn back quicker than you expected to just cause you felt tired.

Download onto a smart phone if you have it (Fiance has it) an app that counts the calories that you're burning...there is no better motivation than when you realise you've burned 300+ calories...and it will make you also think twice about reaching out for that bar or packet of crisps, as you know the effort that it takes to burn it off...give yourself a target of X amount of calories in the week to burn off...you'll be surprised how motivated it makes you.

Fiance is extremely fit also and thankfully very suportive of my efforts. I walk loads but really do agree that jogging would burn that extra few calories. So what i've tried to do is go out fast pace walking with fiance, then whenever i feel like it...without warning him...just take off slow (very slow) jogging...i mark spots that i aim for on the route - really small targets - like I'm going to jog the length of 2 lamp posts....or to the next road crossing etc...he keeps beside me, and that motivates me to keep going and sometimes i go way past where i was expecting. The way i see it - each step is a step closer to another inch loss!! :-)

Hope ye have a motivated weekend. How's about we make a pact to do a walk/jog on Saturday and Sunday and see how we've done on Monday? :-) Let me know what ye think?

I went out for a walk both days but they weren't very hectic to be fair - more like strolls in the sunshine. Then went to the gym yesterday morning so not too bad!! Haven't stood on the scales but hopefully lose a bit before WW on Thursday! How about you? How's the eating going?

Howdy. Well done - sounds like you're doing brill! :o)ll
The nice weather really really helps!
Hoping to weigh in myself also this morning...will let you know how i get on. I only weigh myself - don't do WW or Unislim, but have been 100% honest with myself!
Eating is going very well still thankfully. Got cross trainer - so need to get my tush in gear to use this also - hopefully will get out most evenings this week for a walk!
Best of luck tomorrow with weigh in! :)

Well I didnt do a tap the weekend (unless partying until 9 Sunday morning counts?) but I did 4 mile walk Monday, 5 Tuesday and 6 today!
I have this "map my walk" app and it records the route, time, calories etc. it even gives ur time per mile so then I speed up and try to beat it.

How's everyone else going?

Just back from WW and lost 1.5lbs and I was using the wrong points - I was using 29, not 26!! Delighted...only about half a stone to go! Going to do it this time!! Wedding a year tomorrow - need to look fabulous :)

Plan for the weekend (apart from studying for this stupid exam) - control what I eat and get out for walks in the sun (if there is any!)...

Hope everyone is doing ok!!
