Hi Wollies,

I am freaking out big time, I hope you can give me some advice.

I have never had chicken pox, even though younger siblings all had it years ago, I just never picked it up.

A girl at work has come into the office today and announced she thinks her 18 month old baby is getting them, he is showing signs.

I havent stopped itching since, I dont know if it just because she has said it or what but I am very worried, I would probably get shingles now, wedding in 15 weeks

I wouldn’t worry, Your friend can’t give you the chicken pox unless she brings her daughter in, Plus you probably have encountered lots of people with contagious diseases on the street and not realised and not caught anything, You cannot catch shingles from someone who has chicken pox if you have never had chicken pox’s but you can catch shingles from somebody who has shingles,
I honestly wouldn’t panic and I’ve heard before from a friend, who is a gp that if you were a kid and in contact with other kids that had chicken pox, like siblings etc. you most likely had them but the spots may have been in your throat or one on your foot or something!
