Which would you choose - WW, Motivation Clinic, SW????

Which would you choose - WW, Motivation Clinic, SW????

Postby layla14 » Mon Apr 23, 2022 10:02 am

I am 3 stone over weight now and really fed up. I've little or no money to invest in myself as we are unemployed for 2 years now. I cant walk as I've damaged big toes and awaiting an op!

I have done WW years ago and lost 24lbs and felt brilliant and managed to keep it off for alomst 2 years when I became pregnant. I lost a stone to become pregnant for the second time and then, lost 2 stone to get married, but managed to put 7lbs on after the honeymoon and then it started to creep up and up the past 3 years. Now I'm 3 stone heaveier than when I reached the first goal with WW. O:|
I eat healthy most of the time, but find dinners prob my worse thing. I have a fussy family, Hubby hates peppers which I love in stir frys and spag bol etc, which I make entirely from scratch, my elderly father only likes meat veg spud and gravey dinners and two lo's who dont like anything spicy. I stopped cooking seperate dinners 2 years ago as I'd find I spent all day cooking, so we all eat the same - but that means most nights its spud, (mas)h & gravy etc. I eat a bowl of cereal for breakfast with low fat milk, ham/chicken sandwich with low fat mayo, and a dinner. I do enjoy a biscuit with my cuppa after the dinner. I like fruit and veg for a snack, but dont usually need it, and my lunch in the winter would be 2 slices of home baked brown bread with a bit of butter and home made tomatoe, carrot or chicken soup (all my own). I'm at home all day and scrub the house, never off my feet from I get up in the morning at 7.30 till the kids go to bed at 8.30 / 9pm. I dont understand how I could be so big!!!

If you were to spend money on soemthing, which would you do?

Thanks for listening / reading, I need to get this emotion out!!! :lvs

Of the listed I've only tried SW, but 5 weeks in I'm down 11.5lbs, hoping to get my stone off this week.

I don't feel restricted and still eat almost everything I love. Still have chocolate and crisps most days, granted, its velvet crunch now and a sq of bournville, not a bar or anything.

I'm not big on roast dinners and would only really have them every few weeks, so i'm not really missing the gravy.

Best of luck with which ever you decide

Hi Layla,

Ive tried ww and like you lost weight but gained it again, i did think about motivational clinic but it just costs so much that i couldnt bring myself to pay that much money and not knowing enough about it. so in the end i also picked slimming world ive 3 weeks done and down 3and half pounds with a two pound weight loss last week.

You still eat loads of your favourite foods and i love my roast dinners but for my mash potatoes i used to add milk and butter now i add a chicken/veg stock cube to 100ml boiling water and gradually add it to my mash potatoes or i might put in a raw egg which is very nice in it. For roast potatoes i spray roasting tin with fry light - and spray potatoes with fry light and they still delicious.

I'm very happy with slimming world at moment and think you should give that a go its 18euro to join and 9euro a night after that with free access to slimmingworld.ie too.

Best of luck :)

Hey! It's so expensive to do all these things!! Do you have access to WW/SW information - you could just do it on your own? There's lots on the internet too so you could try collate as much as you can? There are DVD's in HMV (Not sure where else) but they are €7 for 5 20 minute work outs, not sure how good they'd be but they might have some that don't involve too much jumping around?

Thanks for those girls - I might try SW - it sounds like it'd suit me! I've lost my motivation thats why I cant do it on my own anymore - I only ever paid for WW once and managed to loose weight on my own 3 times -it just isnt working this time!!! O:| I'm also just so fed up with having to go back on a diet every few years - I cant seem to stop being on some plan or diet or I just get huge!!! :o(

Also, the DVD suggestion - I have 2 DVD's that I got in carboot sales and while the work out is good, I just fed up of the encouragement - when you hear it twice it's boring and grates my nerves!!!!

I started WW again on my own yesterday and then my DH home home with pizza & chips for us all!!! What am I supposed to do?? (ok, I can hear you yelling at me not to eat it, but it's way too hard when 3 people are tucking in :-8 )

Cheers girls!

HI Layla,

SW have chips you can eat and they're lovely.

Just cut up some spuds into chips, par boil if you like, spray with fry light and pop them in the oven. I use sweet potato's and don't parboil and they're delicious. I usually sprinkle some paprika on them as well.

If you have an iphone DL the SW app, you can't use it until you are signed up to the website i don't think. You can still have pizza, just not as much as you'd probably like and you need to syn it. TBH when you see it eating into your syns, it doesn't really seem worth it!

Join us on the SW thread, loads of support there!!!

Slimming world is really great because theres not the same counting like weight watchers and i found it so easy to eat out on it aswell, I lost a stone in 7 weeks on it. I stopped going cause i started with a personal trainer and couldnt afford both but i will go back once i finished with him.
I would stay away from motivation weight loss clinic its not healthy and its not sustainable and it costs a sh1t load of money
