Just... but still it's a start.

This is day 3 of the giving up smoking plan.
This is it for me now, I am sick of it - but still I know it will be tough enough to start off.

I know all the tips they give you - drink water, breathing deeply etc but truth is at this time of the day I go for my smoke break in work and it's killing me O:|

Can anyone share any tips etc that you found good to help you through the "break times"?
Anyone else out there trying to give up and want to start a little support thread....

My progress so far....

20 minutes: Your blood pressure and pulse rate return to normal

8 hours: Oxygen levels in your blood return to normal.

24 hours: Carbon monoxide has been eliminated from your body. Your lungs start to clear out mucus and other smoking debris.

48 hours: There is no nicotine left in your body. Your ability to taste and smell is greatly improved.

72 hours: Breathing becomes easier. Your bronchial tubes begin to relax and your energy levels increase

Congrats!
I did the same thing last sept, so I'm off them 7 months now.
I foud the worst part wasn't the craving for them but the actual habit of it.
I just had to keep my self busy at times like after dinner etc when I usually went for a cigerette. Just little things like making a phone call or sorting out the fridge until it passed.
Once you can breaks these habits its amazing how quick you can forget.
I alo didn't drink for a bout 3-4weeks until I knew I would have the will power, as for me having a drink meant wanting a cigerette.
After a few months I forgot also.
Saving a fortune too and I always said I didn't want to be a Bride who smoked :-)

Ok so I'm still not smoking and the cravings aren't too bad, but I really wish my skin would stop breaking out

I look like a teenager with my big spotty face :weep

I know it's all the toxins leaving my body but how long does it usually last? When will I be back to my beautiful self?? :o0

congrats to you!
I just started on my goal of being smoke free by the end of the summer.
I tried cold turkey before and I ate all round me and turned into a lightning biatche!
So I spoke to my doc and he prescribed the gum for starters.
So I have been up to last night smoking 20 a day.
Today I have had 6 and 3 gums.
I know its not great but its a start.

Really want to be off them forever without eating all around me and been trying to keep myself busy today but the fact that I am totally run down right now I have very little motivation to do much.

Plans for tomorrow, Clean out the fridge and the hotpress.
Fingers crossed.

Thats fantastic, and fair play to you. You should be very proud of yourself.

I just wanted to give you a link, a friend of mine read through it a few times during the first few days of giving up and she said it helped, and hasn't smoked in 8 months so here you go and I hope it helps you even more
