Lack of motivation

Lack of motivation

Postby Baby Tigger » Tue Nov 23, 2021 5:39 pm

Hi Girls,

I need some help. I have always been a bit over weight - nothing major - maybe a stone at most. My doctor told me to lose some weight so that I wouldn't suffer later on in life. I also have an underactive thyroid which makes losing weight more difficult(not that that's any exuse). Anyway joined WW last year and lost over 1 and1/2 stone. Of course stopped then and put most of it back on. Am now in Unislim but find that even though I have lost a bit of weight it is all creeping back on again. I am a member of a gym and everything else but I just find that after a few weeks I lose all motivation or willpower to continue. I know that I can lose the weight I just think that I need some extra motivation. Any ideas girls???

I find that if someone else is doing it with me I stick to it longer. Thats what's nice about WW/ Unislim. If you can't rope a friend into going along to the classes with you perhaps try some online diet motivation. There are loads of discussion boards out there for dieters. Here are a couple:

Also, break down your weight loss into smaller steps. Treat yourself to those new jeans after you have lost a half a stone, or dropped a dress size.

HTH

Thanks a million scubachick. Will definately look up those sites. Haveto say though that even just mailing here and reading all the other threads has kinda motivated me to try again. I guess I'm just feeling tempted by all the sweets etc that are in the shops at the mo. That along with the fact that I put up 31/2 pounds  last week is giving my confidence and motivation a bit of a bashing. Maybe we should set up a "keep each other motivated" thread or something. :!: What do you all think of that for an idea?

Hi coca,
On ready your post,i understand that there are weeks when you are just fed up with the good eating and exercise.Im the same up 1/2 down 1/2 and its so annoying especially when you've been really good.tThe motivation i have set for myself is obviously my wedding day,id hate to look back on my photos and say to myself why didnt i lose more.It takes time for your body to adjust to all the changes you have made,so what id suggest to you is keep with it,u will be so happy with the results..

good luck

On the lines of group motivation, what works for me is playing a sport that I love, and as part of a team. I hate gyms and get bored stiff on my own (obviously) on a treadmill, yet running around a pitch for 3 times longer chasing a ball with others is fun. Go figure!
