IUI 2011 Thread

IUI 2011 Thread

Postby 2012baby » Fri Jan 28, 2022 10:18 pm

Anyone want to join me on an IUI thread, I know there are people on the IVF/ IUI thread but I'm just getting my head around the IUI info so would love a separate one. I may end up having IVF but would love to just focus on IUI for now.

My story, starting IUI next cycle, prescribed 150iu menopur injections, and then ovitrelle and having insemination.

would love some company if anyone interested. and if so would love to get this into a sticky

Hi Footprints, we're back to the consultant on Tues and will probably be thinking about IUI after then. I'm keeping an eye on the IUI/IVF thread, but it would be great to have an IUI specific tread. I know so little about it, apart from the absolute basics, so it would be good to hear from others.
So, count me in.....

Hi Girls,

I'd like to join you...

I did my second IUI yesterday, i was on purogen 75ml injections then centrodite (sp) and then i took my ovitrele injection on Wednesday @ 10 pm for iui on Friday @ 10am. On day 13 i only had one follicle that was 17mm but the doctor said he was happy with that one and happy with the fact that i was ready for insemination on day 15. I was disappointed with the sperm sample which was 7 million after it was washed, it was 20 the last time so anybody know why there would be such a difference?? The doctor said it was ok and once it was over 2 million he was happy for the iui to go ahead. i know i was O becasue i had pains and the doctor said he was very hopeful for me but i totally take that with a pinch of salt. We DTD :-8 :-8 last night but the problem is with my OH sperm so i don't know if it will make any difference.

Overall the whole experience is fine and i don't find it painful or invasive its just the 2ww that kills me... if ever there was a time when i need a few glasses of vino its now!!

Hi Girls

Def would love to join, great thread. Our story so far...lucky to have 1 DS who was conceived naturally in 3 months. Since then have more or less been trying to conceive again. Discovered DH has morphology issues although not clear as we did conceive the first time round. Did 1 cycle of clomid as my ovulation was quite low, i didnt respond well so have had 1 cycle of TSI with menopur injections and currently on 2nd round of TSi. Also have have had HCG, all clear. Meeting with consultant in Harri unit next week and we are thinking IUI will be suggested. Either that or ivf. We will be seeing Dr Edgar Mocaenu, anyone else meeting him. Girles best of luck and keep us posted on next appts. :babydust: :babydust: :babydust:

Hi Girls,

I'd like to join you also.

We have just started our first cycle of IUI this month also. Took my first purogen 75ml injection this evening, was so nervous and excited.

I know what you mean scissorsgirl, that can't believe going down this route, as was sure that every month it would happen for us and now emarking on this journey, which is scary and exciting and havn't been sleeping well the last week. so have started Acupuncture to help me relax. anyone suggest anything else to relax also?

Have appt on friday with the clinic to see how the follicles are reacting to the medication.

wishing us all

Hi girls, I'm in too! Hoping to start IUI this month. V long cycle though (currently day43) so on 10 days oestrogen to bring on AF. Hope to start meds then early Feb all going well! TTC 13 cycles now so thought we would start with the gentler option of IUI rather than IVF. DH has low counts and I have pattern of PCOS and crazy cycles. Here's hoping for lots of success stories on this thread and bumps or bundles of joy by Christmas :babydust: :babydust: :babydust: :babydust:

Just popped on for quick look I'm delighted to see so many joining the thread, it makes it so much easier to have company going through this and help each other along. I've decided not to tell my family / friends apart from one friend who has been through this also (now has DD) as I don't want to be bombarded by phonecalls etc. So PMA all the way, we are one step closer to that BFP... :babydust: :babydust: :babydust: :babydust:

Will pop back later O-O

Just wondering how this is made a stickly?

Hi girls, can I join you too?
Having my first IUI to'rrow :o)ll , we got up at 6am this morning to do Pregnyl injection and having IUI at 3pm to'rrow.
We have been ttcing since Sept 2009 and no joy, had blood tests and SA done in May2010, my blood tests were fine but DH SA was very low, 5 million and 10% motility. So we made appointment with sims. Had all bloods done again sept and SA with DNA Frag in early Nov. My blood tests showed slightly low Ovarian Reserve for my age - 8.6 but DH SA was well up, was 23million with 45 motility and DNA Frag of 11%, so we were delighted. Orginally we were meant to do ICSI but doc suggested one try of IUI, so here we are. If it doesn' work depending on SA count we will do IVF next.

I had 3 scans last week, on Friday I had 2 follicles 21mm & 17mm and a couple other smaller ones on their way. My lining is pretty good too. I have been taking 75 GonalF since about day 3 I think stopped that on Friday night and been doing Cectride (sp) since last Monday. I was absolutley dreading the injections but we have done ok at them,DH always does them for me. It was a long week last week having to be up early to do cectride and then head to clinic for scan and arriving late to work. So I have been a little stressed out. I work with about 90% men so no one in wrk has a clue, I have been making up ridiculous reasons for being late!
So that's about it, not looking forward to the 2ww at all.

Footprints well done for making this a thread, be lovely to have some company.

Rose - good luck with injections, you kind of get into the habit of doing them. Good luck with your scan on Friday. I have started ACu aswell, but I don't know how relaxing it is making me, but only because I hate needles, but it is menat to really improve your chances so fingers crossed.

Oct bridie, best of luck on your 2ww, it's great to have someone to share 2ww with.
I'm sorry about DH SA, when did you do your first IUI. I have had my DH on about a million supplements to improve his, but I will be very interested to see what it is to'rrow. Fingers crossed there will be enough. I'm sure one little glass of vino would be ok, i'm planning on having a little one tonight. Wishing you lots of :babydust:

Hey to everybody else :wv and best of luck with your consults.

great thread....a separate IUI one was badly needed!

We are due to do IUI soon aswell....

Background:
TTC since Sept 2008 (30 months i think :weep ) :o( :o( :o( :o( :o(
I have severe endo....was treated surgically about 7 yrs ago
All bloods are great, am ovulating every cycle (30days approx)
Lap & dye in 2010 showed left ovary to be 'mechanically not working great'
DH has a slight morphology issue

Consultant recommends IVF but wants to start on an IUI first!

We are still hoping it will happen naturally & keep putting off the IUI - IVF is a non-runner for us at the moment psychologically & financially.

Wishing everyone on here the very best of luck in their treatments & journeys

Hi guys, it is great to have this tread. We head up again in Tues to get results of DH's SA (last one was just ok), my AMH result and to discuss HSG result (All clear except that one tube and ovary seem to be in the wrong place, way down - explains why he had a hard time finding it with the scan last time). Before all those results, he was recommending IVF instantly because of my age (I'm now 42!) but, like Neytiri, we don't want to go there because of both financial and emotional reasons. We have been TTC since April. So a lot hangs on TUesday.
I was wondering what the usual routine for IUI is, in terms of levels of drugs/injections etc. It would be great to have an idea when the discussion happens on Tuesday. 2WWs are horrible enough at the best of times, I dread to think what it is like in this situation, so good luck to those who are waiting.

Hi Girls
I've been on to admin so hopefully this thread will be sticky, its great to see so many joining.

Like I said earlier there is so much to take in with IUI so reading about IVF was really confusing me and I've already been there done that for too many cycles with all the other stuff and no bfp so at least now we are improving our chances of getting that bfp.

Best of luck to everyone startingIUI or having 1st consultation.

Hoping4amiracle, i'm new to all this but basically whats involved is injections to stimulate ovaries to produce eggs on day 4 6 and 8, scan on day 10 to see how follicles are coming along then you take trigger shot injection to make you ovulate and then dh produces sample, thats washed etc and sperm is placed into womb and happy days, 9 months later you give birth to your little bundle of joy, or maybe twins or triplets :o0 :o0 :o0 :o)ll :o)ll

Oct bridie - hope the 2ww flies by and you have your bfp at the end of it.. its great to hear it went well for you. :babydust: :babydust: :babydust: :babydust:

hi guys, can i join ye?

currently on the tww of my second iui....both have been fairly straight forward, menopur 75iu daily from day three onwards, then scans and bloods on days 10 and 12, and the iui on day 14 after trigger injection...had three follicles the first time and two the second

we have being ttc for 2 years now, and starting to feel very down about it....if this iui isn't successful, we will hopefully do one more, and take a few months break before deciding if we want to move onto ivf...

best of luck to everyone!
