We're ttc for a year now and my doc wants to refer us to a fertility clinic but we havent even had bloods done and I think its too drastic a move just yet.

Hi Mrs Positive,

I am in with Napro, but attend Dr O'F in Galway. I know a few girls on the napro page attend Dr Maeve Bradley.

Here is a link to a post that one of the girls posted last year viewtopic.php?f=26&t=290038 its on the TTC section, I will bump it up for you now.

Good luck on your ttc journey.

Hey
Hope that link answered your questions. I am on month 2 with them and very early days for us with Napro but for us its the logical next step ...

In summary its an alternative approach to IUI/IVF .You chart you cervical mucus on a chart (paper based) , a teacher helps you do this ( you see her a coUple of times) and I will be seeing Dr Dwyer (my Napro doc) before the end of this cycle.
Also there is a strong focus on nutrition- I and hubbie are on specific supplements, and I am doing a Nutritional( allergy ) assessment tomorrow

The aim is to chart cycles for a few, then continue to chart your cycles.and hopefully identify any problems, solve those issues with meds. have experts carry out diagnotic tests/exams, try and regulate cycle, then hopefully when issues are corrected pregnancy will ensue

There is a nice short video on http://www.fertilitycare.ie website that summarizes the approach and Dr Boyle is the dr who has introduced this concept of care into Ireland

My GP wanted to send me to a fertility clinic also, but from what I read on here knew that approach and hanging around hospital clinics wasnt for us yet.......have a friend who has numerous failed IVFs and IUIs and I only discovered last week is now doing Napro. She reckons she so wishes she had gone to Napro first ! as they look for the problem that prevents you getting PG and try and fix it , rather than just medicating you or IVF

It suits where we are at and we think we will give Napro a shot until end 2013/early 2014 .....save for IVF in the meantime (but hopefully we wont need that)

Hope this helps...if you have any queries just ask

BTW I self referred myself to my Napro teacher first last month, who started me on charts, saw her 2 wks ago, going again on Fri , and then Dr on 18 May. Napro teacher advised me what Day 3 and Day 21 bloods to do last cylcle ....so its a very accessible route

thanks for the replies girls, very informative, I feel Fertility Clinic is a huge step and want to try everything else first.

With regards to the diet what kind of supplements were you told to go on and how do they decide what you need, from bloods?

Hey

These are the vitamins they reccommend for me and hubbie ;
My Full blood count and everything was fine. My FSH was ok, but LH was little raised ...however I believe they reccommend these for everyone , regardless of bloods

Fertility Plus for women 1 daily
Vitamin D3 ( 2000mg daily)
Omega 3 (2000mg daily) brand name Ideal Omega reccommended but I bought MorEpa Platinum , as was same levels of EPA/DHA but costs less

and for him;
Fertility Plus for men 1 daily
Alpha-lipoic Acid 300mg daily
Men should reduce alcohol and coffee intake if possible.

I bought them online and they were 86 euro for us both per month!!
55 for me
31 for his
But this was a lot less than the local health shops so it all helps!

Hi ladies,

Have been meaning to reply for ages, im currently under the treatment of DR bradley, i couldnt say a bad word about her she is so kind, patient, helpfull etc, she has often replied to my messages/emails at 11pm at night.

Its a very long slow road with napro so it can be very frustrating and getting levels and meds right for each individual can take time, but there leave no stone unturned, and are very positive which is great. Unfortunately it hasnt worked for me yet, but there are so many BFPs in the napro page over the time ive been on it many of them longterm ttcers.

I think doctor bradley is fab, but i have often said with my DH, that i wonder should we have gone to Doctor Boyle (the guru), cause really you dont see the doctor that often so the travel prob wouldnt of been a huge deal, he seems to have huge success rates.

So best of luck hope ye all get success with napro, any questions feel free to pm me. :babydust:

thanks girls, I've made an appointment for this thursday with Dr Bradley, God I hope Im not throwing money away. Are they kind of natural approach as in the name? I guess I just want to get pregnant asap as is everyone Im sure. I just dont know if this is the right thing for us. But maybe after this initial consultation on Thursday I'll know if its for us or not.

I want to make sure that if I was to get pregnant now with PCOS that they will monitor it and it seems my doctor cant so its either fertility clinic (4 - 5 month wait) or Napro. So ill see!

thanks for your advice, how long have you been attending her codp and how often do you see her, I dont want to spend money on a teacher showing me how to chart, Im hoping one session will be enough as I am very up on all this CM stuff!
thanks x

Best of luck with your appointment MrsPositive. Yeah, it's as natural as you can get with all this ttc lark. There's still drugs, etc but its working with your own body. But you will have to be patient...I guess that goes for all options of intervention. :babydust: :babydust:
