Just booked Tom's colleague Mary Losty at lunch time. :)

Venue, Band and Celebrant all chosen now, will be married on the 23rd of Feb next year!

If anyone who's used Tom before wouldn't mind sharing their ceremony with us it'd be great to get some inspiration from real ceremonies before writing our own vows (other half got me drunk and made me promise we could write our own! :duh: )

I'm jumping on the band wagon here too as we're getting married by Tom and not overly happy with the sample ceremony he sent us so if anyone would like to share their ceremony with me as well that would be brilliant! :wv

Hi Everyone,

I'm new to this site. We have Mary Losty booked for our wedding in June and we're just starting to plan the ceremony.
Would love to hear any feedback from anybody who has been married by her? Also if anyone has a sample ceremony from their day, would be really grateful if you could PM me?
Want to make changes from the sample sent to us and would love some ideas for alternative readings and poetry etc.
Thanks a mill!

Hi,

We have booked Tom Colton for our ceremony as we wanted to get married on a Sunday. We are trying to put together our ceremony and are struggling O:| .....if anyone could send me their booklet so we could look at some examples I would really really appreciate it. Do you have to refer to the Great Spirit throughout the ceremony? There are a few people unhappy with the fact that we are not getting married in a church, so I don't want too much focus on the spirit.

Any help would be appreciated!!

Hi,

Similar to some of the other posts here, we are being married by Mary Losty later this year. The sample ceremony Tom sent contains a lot of spiritual references which I'd prefer not to have in our ceremony. When any of you have met with Tom or Mary have they provided any other sample ceremonies? I'd really appreciate if someone could send me a sample of the ceremony they have used as I'm not familiar at all with non-church ceremonies and we want to start putting together ours.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Ladies,
I was married by Tom earlier this year and just wanted to reassure you that the sample ceremony is just that ... a sample!!! You can literally rewrite it , take out words/ parts you dont like, add bits you do like, Tom doesnt mind. The only parts you cant change are the legal parts re impediments to marriage etc..
Tom will ask youto e-mail your version of the ceremony to him before the wedding, we actually had it ready when we went to meet him about a month before the wedding.
We pretty much stuck to the sample ceremony from what I can remember , removed words like "great spirit" and I think just used the word spirit. Also I have to say the amount of people who came up to us after the ceremony to say how much they had enjoyed the ceremony and how personal it felt. My granny could not get over how nice it was and kept saying everyone should get married that way !!! Trust me that a serious endorsement for the ceremony coming from a woman with a very very strong catholic faith !!

I have provisionally booked with him too but he only thing that is putting us off is that he is a medium also and to be honest me an the other half find all that stuff a load of nonsense and an excuse for people to take vulnerable peoples money. I know people choose to go and pay for it, its not forced upon them but its the fact we know he does that stuff.

Stuck in a dilemma as he seems to be the only one who ticks all the boxes otherwise.

We had Tom officiate over our wedding at the beginning of the month and it was a lovely ceremony. We wrote it ourselves, had one meeting with Tom where he made some very good suggestions. I didn't know he was a medium, certainly didn't come up in conversation and he didn't put any sort of pressure to do anything we didn't want to do.

So glad we had him as we didn't want a church wedding but the HSE don't work on a Saturday, we didn't want to have two ceremonies, so not really any alternatives out there at the moment.

Yeah I know that he wouldnt start pushing it on us or anything but it would be in the back of my head. We see most of those medium/psychic readers as con artists preying on vulnerable people. Im sure he is lovely, all these comments dont suggest anything negative.

The cost is high too, plus the 150 we have to pay to register. We have to put the ceremony together ourselves so I dont know how they can charge almost €500 for "meetings etc."

We currently live in the UK so wouldnt be meeting at all until its absolutely necessary

Ahh, dont know what to do, so little options if you dont want a religious ceremony!

To be honest the cost shouldn't be a major factor as if you got married in the church you would be looking at around the same amount and maybe more and more than likely you will have to do a pre-marriage course which is another cost you don't incur with Tom. The church also seem to make you jump through a lot more hoops and you have to get a lot more religious paperwork.
Can i just say Tom has been licenced by the Irish Government to carry out Civil Ceremonies and for you come on here and compare him to a con artist is very unfair.

I certainly didn't forward any of your posts to Tom but i am sure that like any type of supplier to the wedding industy he keeps an eye on this website to see what people are posting about him and the service he provides.

Considering his name is in the subject box it wouldn't be hard to find this thread.
