Can priests marry you not in a church?

Hey there, does anyone know if a priest would marry you not in a church? i found a fab location -an old house that does weddings and events and i want to know if a priest could marry us????? :xox

As far as I know they could, but they absolutely won't. They just refuse to do it outside a church. Your best bet if you want a religious ceremony not in a church is to look at someone like bishop pat Buckley (think thats his name anyway).

As far as I know, they won't. They believe that it goes against the Church being sacred etc. But a Christian pastor will often marry people in alternate venues/ outdoor etc. Good luck with your hunt.

At our pre marraige course the priest said that catholic priests are not allowed to marry anyone anywhere but a church

Our priest - technically called a Reverend - is from a christain order and is marrying us at our reception venue! Before we found him, we had approached our local priest to conduct a blessing at our venue after civil ceremony - he was even very reluctant to do that outside the church!

Catholic priests in good standing aren't supposed to marry outside a church. They can lose their 'good standing' if they do. For the church, a sacrament has to happen within a church to be a proper sacrament
