I'm sure they can muster up something a little better than flats and jeans!...You know, like something you would normally wear for a wedding reception :eek

If they dont like the BM dresses then it seems they will only be more than happy to have something more to their taste to change into. And its not like they are paying for them you are, you like them and its your wedding. So I wouldn't worry about it. Have a chat with them and tell them that after the pictures and dinner they are more than welcome to change for the nights festivities, and im sure they will be fine.

I'm actually pretty shocked that the OP and other posters think it's ok to buy the BM dresses without imput from the BM's!! Ok, it's your wedding day but they have to wear the dresses and feel comfortable-even looking at dresses online, they can be completely different when you try them on.

€200 might seem reasonable to you but when you factor in spending money and time off work, you can't be too annoyed if people can't go. It's a lot of money and I think the days of people being able to afford foreign Hens and Stags are gone! If it was me, I couldn't afford that at the moment! She might be embarrassed to say she can't afford it but maybe that's the reason she hasn't booked?

Yep!

Been a bridesmaid 3 times and only been asked once for my opinion.

I wouldn't dream of telling a bride what I want on her day. I just sucked it up and wore what they had chosen for their big day. But thats just me.

As I said in my previous post, each to their own on a subject such as this!

People feel differently about it and thats it really!

You don't know the circumstances, living/location arrangements, financial situation of me or my husband or types of girls my bridesmaids were, so you are not one to judge.

If you know nothing whatsoever of someones life or circumstances, who are you to pass judgement?

Major +1 on this!! This screams of Bridezilla to me!!! I've been bridesmaid 3 times and each time we had total input. I can't think of anything worse than having to sit through such a happy, exciting and important occassion without feeling 100% comfortable in what you are wearing.

Fair play to anyone who's done it and it's worked out well with the BM's, you obviously put a lot of thought into what they would like and what would suit them. But for those whose BM's didn't like the dresses...I think it's really selfish to have a "put up and shut up" attitude.

I have been BM once and had input into the dresses we chose.

I am getting married shortly and made the decision to have the dresses made with slightly different tops to suit each BM. I wanted them to feel happy and comfortable on the day. I would hate it if they didn't like the dresses and felt crap in them.
