I think sometimes people just spell it how they pronounce it. Bloody annoying though.

One thing which does my head in and is WOL exclusive is people calling it the 'residence' bar and not 'residents' bar. It just drives me batty! Are people planning on setting up home in the hotel bar after the reception?

So many of the above wreck my head!

In particular lack of adverbs, as mentioned... 'Drive slow'! Also, the should of/ should have one!!

And one that hasn't been mentioned is bought and brought. "I bought my bag with me." "I brought a bottle of wine at the shop." O:| O:|
Jesus, Mary and Joseph... and the donkey... I want to rip my eyes out when I hear those terms misused!

This drives me mental too. My husband, who is a well read, intelligent man, can NOT for the life of him, work out the difference. I'm constantly saying "bring-brought - buy/bought" and it just doesn't work!!

HELP!

I read the worst I've come across on a thread yesterday (not on here). Couldn't believe it but it was repeated twice.

Bloody hell, that IS bad.

My sister said a good one years ago. Now she was about 9 at the time so we'll forgive her, ok? She was talking about some actor/singer she thought was cute and she said "I wouldn't kick him out of bread for eating crisps" - BREAD? Ha ha, thought I'd die laughing. She says it correctly now.

Was at a course at the weekend and the instructor said the word "Irregardless" FIVE times on Saturday, he said it twice on Sunday, at which point I couldn't hold it in any more and tell him that it wasn't a word. I was afraid if I heard it again my brain would start bleeding :o0

I've just discovered this thread! I've been cringing reading through some of the examples on here, and at many of the posts on WOL in general.

One thing that kills me is when others give out and claim to be "grammer nazis". Ugh! I just want to smack them.

Seriously though, what IS it with people why is everyone so terrible at spelling? We used to have a spelling test every single day in school do they not do this anymore?
