I'm an idiot

I'm an idiot

Postby kitty092011 » Fri Mar 16, 2022 1:15 pm

OK so this morning I did something I never do, I pulled into a disabled spot to allow my passenger to get out to go to work. As I was waiting for her to get coat on etc. the gardai pulled up beside me. He asked the usual questions do you have a permit to park here of course I said no he asked for licence etc. Have to produce my insurance cert in local garda station which is fine. Then I asked him so what fine/points am I getting and he proceeded to tell me he will think about it for a few days.
This has really pi**ed me off, I broke the law give me my fine or whatever it is I know I deserve it and I have no problem with paying my dues. But why be so vague about it, it was almost as if he enjoyed seeing me so upset. I never break the law and to be honest I will lose sleep until I know what is going to happen. I really could do without the stress, what I did was wrong I put my hand up but why punish me more by letting me fret.

He is being an idiot. There is no penalty points or fines for parking in a disabled bay.
Why did he say you had to produce your insurance cert? Did you not have an insurance disc on your windscreen? I wouldn't even bother going back to the police station with the cert tbh. There's nothing he can do.

It sounds like he's just being a d*ck because he can.

Agree he's being an idiot but being asked for the insurance cert is quite common. The disc means nothing as it doesn't say who is actually insured, thats why they need to see the cert.

Kitty, please please go to the station with your insurance cert. If youre asked to produce something you have 10 days to produce it and if you dont chances are a summons will arrive. Just the fact that he asked for it to be produced means you have to produce it.
With regards to the parking in the disabled bay, hed have to summons you, I dont think there is an on the spot fine for it but I could be wrong. Youve a better chance of nothing coming out of this if you produce your insurance, if you dont produce it it can be taken that you have a disrespect for the law (and Im not saying you do). If at the moment he thinks you made a genuine mistake and you produce your cert as requested he may just write it off.
Dont let a bully like him upset you, theres asses in every job out there and it sounds like hes just a major ass enjoying you feeling bad. You made a mistake, thats all, every one of us does, were all human.
Dont let this bother you, take care :)

Thanks ladies for your advice, I do intend on producing my insurance cert either way. You could be right he was just being an a**. God do you think I'll get a summons, he did take all my details off of my licence. My car is both taxed and insured and both are displayed on my windscreen but he never got out of the squad I had to, to give him my licence.
This is just the cr*p end to a cr*p week that I need.

hello

make sure and produce - if you dont you will be summoned for no insurance and failure to produce insurance.

regarding the parking thing... is there points for that? i can't see it in the current list of offences that carry points.

if you get fined it is 80e i believe.

Well I went into my local stsation and produced my documents and again asked the garda on duty what would happen next. He looked at me vaguely and just said wait and see. Seriously if a kid was so vague they would get a serious talking to. So here I am now waiting, but for what and how long god only knows.
Fingers crossed I never really need the help of the gardai as this whole experience does not give me great confidence.
Thanks so much ladies for all the support I was in such shock about how I was treated. :thnk

ugh that is so annoying...Some gards can be complete d1cks! they think they are gods or something! I was stopped at a checkpoint and didn't have tax at the time, I only had the car 3 weeks and the log book hadn't been sent back to me yet, Everything else was up to date and i showed him the receipt from the garage. He still told me to produce all my documents in the local garda station so i did this and got a receipt to say so. Then 6 months later i get a court summons in the post!! I tried to call the gard every day left messages he wouldn't return the call so i thought f*ck him im going to make him look like a twat in the courtroom because i had all my documents.
I had to take a day off work and sit in the court for 5 hours waiting to be called, judge says whats the problem I was explaining about the car being new and he says Pffft new its a 02!!!!! I felt like running up to the bench and punching the condescending little pr1ck!! I said yeah well new to me!!! we are not all on your wages (said that part in my mind)
In the end it was struck out because I had all documents but I have no respect for the gards after it
