Bloody Neighbours!!

Bloody Neighbours!!

Postby Nostress » Thu Mar 29, 2022 4:19 pm

Small little rant to follow

We recently moved into a new house. Was and still am very willing to meet, get to know and chat to the neighbours.
BUT when you have one that accosts you everytime you step outside your front door it's hard to keep smiling.

To put it in prespective....
OH parents were visiting one weekend, I went out to the car to move it and they followed. In the 30seconds it took me to move the car so I could open the passenger door he was over filling the FMIL and FFIL in on his frost stat, which is great because the house never freezes :zzzz:
I must also point out, he did not introduce himself or ask who they were - just launched straight in a conversation about random sh1t.

While we were moving in I was carrying a lazy mans load from the car, it was heavy and I was clearly struggling but he stopped me for a chat - I just had to keep walking and say "Sorry a bit busy at the minute" - I could barely stand let alone have a 30mins conversation

Today I went out the front for 30 seconds to check something.
Now after that "30 seconds" I know all about his family, nephews, brothers, SIL etc etc. I just zoned out :zzzz: so have no real idea what he was saying but after about 20mins and numerous attempts to leave I just had to say "Door is open better go incase it closes and I have no key"

We are beginning to feel trapped here - it's horrible. At first I just thought it would pass when we had settled but it's not. If he is out the front we can't go out or half your day is gone O:| O:|

Anyone else have similar "chatty" neighbours and if so how do you deal with them without being rude?

I will stress again in case anyone thinks I'm an ignorant cow, I have no problem chatting but when it drags on for ever it grinds on my nerves.

Are you me?!

We live in a rural area, my neighbours are the same. Well they were until I lost the cool one day and asked her to leave me alone but more of this later. As an example, when I moved in I changed the kitchen units, they arrived on a lorry one day that had a pic of a similar kitchen on the lorry. She later came over to tell me (as part of a 45min monologue) that my kitchen was different to the one on the outside of the lorry. She could only have known this by either using binoculars or creeping over and staring into my house (while she's a neighbour there is a field between us).

Two days after our wedding last year she came over offering me pregnancy test kits. I declined. Graciously. Oh, she's about 64 so don't ask me what she was doing with testing kits.

She doesn't seem to know what a bar of soap is. When I broke my ankle she came in to visit me and she was stinking of horse pee, I mean reeking and I was stuck to the sofa so I couldn't get up and open a window. My mum even noticed it when she came into the house a while later. 45 minutes of me holding my nose and hoping she'd bugger off and leave me alone.

She doesn't speak to me now. I am delighted.

So if I get horse pee, rub it all over myself and call in some day they'll leave me alone after??!!! :-8

We have big trees in the front we both want to get rid of, but I'm afraid in case they start nosing - at least now we have a small bit of privacy.
Can't wait to start doing the place up - he'll be over ever day for a nose I'd say. It;ll be very unfortunate when the builders disconnect the doorbell :innocent:

God that sounds like a nightmare no stress – anytime you get cornered just say better run – have something on the cooker etc, do this a few times and he might get the message. You cant be afraid to leave the house in case he starts chatting. Our estate is getting really lively now with the good weather and during the summer its always way busier – good luck when you want to relax outside in the sun and you have that fella chewing the ear off you!!

We already have a road between us so unfortunately the fence won't work

We have both tried to say look we are rushing but it just doesn't sink in. Any one else would say "ok sure we'll chat soon" but not this bucko.... on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on O:| O:|

We were even pulling into the driveway one night and he obviously saw the car lights - so he started looking out through the curtains like a little peeping tom!!!! :o0

:o0 I could have wrote this myself!! when i see the neighbours in the garden when i pull into my driveway i pretend i dont see them and keep routing in my hand bag until they move to a spot they cant see me then I run into the house :o0 :o0
the guy is soooo happy all the time its not right, i swear he pops up from behind walls and bushes "hi guys" with a big wave and a smile. If im sitting on the sofa and hes in his front garden cutting his grass he'll be looking in the window smiling and waving F*CK OFF!!
One time i was out running with my headphones in and he still stops me for a 30 minute conversation >:o(
I dont mind being friendly and saying hi but seriously I just got in from a sh1tty day in work i do not want to have a 40 minute conversation about your grass!!

You are not alone !!

We live in a rural area too. Two houses down a lane.
To say they crowded us when we moved in was an understatment. We almost regretted our lovely new home. The kids thought nothing of playing in our garden, coming in the door unannounced and just generally treating the place like an extension of their own home.
We had to slowly send out signals without upsetting the children that it wasnt on.
It has improved but they have a nana in house aswell, who seems to think we are her new grandchildren ? we get weekly visits that last over 2 hours, and we cant pretend to not be at home. It can be a pain in the arse.
