How much stuff can 2 people have!!!!!

We have lived in our home for just over 7 years and have had three medium skips in that time. We have had bits done to the house but whilst having the skips we have made full use and gotten rid of any unusable crap clogging up the house. I also thought I was pretty on the ball for not keeping clutter and clearing out wardrobes. Now we are having the bedrooms painted and it has unearted more clutter. I was desperately trying to put things away to clear the rooms and realised I didn't even remember having half of the stuff. Storage is a big issue too though. I'd love to get really good quality slide robes to replace our gammy built-in wardrobes. They were there when we moved and just have a rail for hanging stuff up - no shelves.

I don't know if I'm ranting about clutter, the size of the house, or always being that bit too skint to afford new wardrobes/storage solutions. Wah wah.. oh woe is me.

I hear ya, clearing out for baby's arrival and the amount of SHITE is unreal. Hoping to get sliderobes in our room and get rid of the manky horrible built in ones. Built in already gone from baby's room such a waste of space in a box room.
Can't wait till I can start painting and getting rid of carpets and get all my clothes into ONE room!

I thought I needed more storage space. Then I decided no, I need less stuff! Like Mari Yay we cleared out stuff for the baby and sent bags to the charity shop and a full car load to the dump, this is after having a large skip during renovations into which a lot of cr@p went. I cann't name one thing I miss that I got rid off. I've decided I'm not buying anything for the next three months that I don't need, we have enough of everything to keep us going for yonks so no more! Will save a few bob as well!

We just moved from a one bed apartment to a 2 bed house and the amount of crap we brought with us, the spare room is full of stuff we need to go through and possibly throw out. How is it that our 2 bed house is now choc a bloc from our 1 bed apartment and this is before we've bought anything for the baby!!

So I feel your pain. What sort of sugar are we buying/letting ourselves keep??

The exact same thing happened to us Sassy when we moved from a one bedroom apartment to a 2 bed house 4 years ago, have only just cleared it all out now for the babs!

The painters are finished and I vow not to just shove things back in the presses. I'm going to have to go through everything again and be brutal. I have a habit of keeping things because they may come in handy in the future. No more I tells you. If I can't remember that last time I used or wore something it's gone! This is war :o0

We threw out so much stuff a few weeks ago - again in preparation for baby's arrival - and I swear I could get a skip today and do it all again!!!

I make my husband do that, I thought I was bad for hanging onto things, but christ he is worse, he gets it from his mother O:|

Oh god, it's a nightmare, isn't it? I'm terrible a real hoarder, but we moved house 18 months ago and we still have about 7 packing boxes in the shed, and only that I know there's a single piece of jewellery in one of them, I'd be tempted to just chuck the lot, because I don't know or miss whatever is in them! I recently restructured our wardrobes (moved shelves and hanging rails) so DH has some shelf space and I took out a load of dresses for weddings, etc that were just taking up room and they've gone into vacuum bags in the underbed storage. I made him throw out a black sack full of clothes that he hasn't worn in about 3 years. At least we can actually find the things that are hanging up now! I put 5 boxes/bags of baby clothes in the attic recently. Will be getting down the neutral stuff again shortly, but only once I've got the baby's room sorted out and I have space ready for them and they won't just be dumped on the bed. I did a major clear out to get DD into the box room, which had been just stuffed with cr@p so at least I feel a bit better.

My sil is my hero when it comes to this, she has absolutely no sentiment about anything, whereas I couldn't throw out the shoes I wore on my first date with DH! :-8
