Champagne Toast or No Toast?

Champagne Toast or No Toast?

Postby Bridie2012 » Mon Jan 23, 2022 9:50 pm

Hi all,

We are not going to have a drink of choice because it is too expensive.

We are getting a good deal on the champagne for the drinks reception so i was wondering if we should just get some extra bottles and offer this for the toast. I know not everybody drinks it and half of it will be thrown down the sink.

My question is - would having a champagne toast be highlighting the fact that you are not having a drink of choice? Most people either have a drink of choice or nothing. Would we be better off having nothing.

Thanks for your help

Its a hard call isn't it, your right it is too expensive to get a round of drinks and the last two weddings I was at didn't offer this either. I'm not going too, we're having wine at all the tables and feel that this should be enough. We're having a Champagne reception also before dinner so I mean where do you stop. I don't think anyone is going to say your mean because you don't get offer a drink for the toast or am I wrong should we be doing this?

I personally think that if your going to have a chanpagne reception on arrival and wine at the table I wouldn't offer a second round for toasting. Your not going to please everyone so do what you can afford. (I should take my own advice)

hey
we decided not to go with drink of choice as it bumps up the price to much, so we are thinking of having the speeches before the meal, that way people will have either the champagne from the pre drinks reception or the wine thats on the table.

hope this idea helps.

We're having a sparkling wine Toast. I haven't been at a wedding with a "drink of choice" for a while...maybe it went out with the boom or perhaps all my friends are broke! I've been at a few recently with nothing and it only registered with me because I'm getting married myself and taking everything in.....If you can't really afford it, drop it. Ask for them to get a top up of wine at this stage.
