Diamonds and pearls, excited bride2013

Good to hear yer plans are going well.
Home in 2 weeks for my bro's wedding so will finally get to do something for mine. From your lists...a little worried that I havent enough done, but good to read this. Forgot all about food tasting and we will only be home just before the wedding so better do it on this trip! Love the idea of inviting both set of parents but to be honest, they dont seem to care too much, even about seeing the venue. Suppose I should be glad they arent interfering.
Was getting really bored of looking at things online and not able to do anything, so havent been online for a while, but getting a bit more excited now as getting married a year from now tomorrow (4th).

I have planned to do the below this June, but any advice on what I should also do that takes a long time? or surprised you on the hassle it was??
I am home in Sept for my sisters wedding so doing the rest then.

Married May 2013

Already done - Church, Venue, photographer, band (friend), church singer (friend), hair (friend), makeup(friend).

Home June 2012
Bride's dress, GM GM suits, BM dresses (maybe), Cake, Flowers, DJ, Wedding rings (look) chairs, dancefloor, day after marque/tent hire. Menu tasting. Cars. Register marraige (no idea how to do this, info on line just says approach priest of advice!)

Home Sept 2012
Mother of bride shopping, wine, invites, Bride shoes, veil, hair thingy, jewellery, page boy suits, table candles, table plan, mass booklets, readings, direction signs. thank you presents, All day after stuff (food, booze, seats, DJ)

I am home 3 weeks before wedding and I think I can do the rest from abroad, even doing pre marraige course from over here.

Anything alarmingly missing?

Hi MademoiselleC2013,

I wouldn’t be getting too stressed you have a lot of the big things done and you still have loads of time! You must be so excited to be coming home for your brother’s wedding and to be able to get stuck into your own planning! I still have loads to do and not that much time! :eek

In terms of registering with the state OH took care of this but you have to do it 3 months before the wedding. Also it takes a while to get an appointment. We booked ours two months ago and we could only get the end of May! Don’t know if this link is of any help to you:
http://www.hse.ie/eng/services/Find_a_S ... riage.html

Are you home long for your brother’s wedding? You seem to have a fairly packed schedule when you are back. One thing I would say is that dress shopping is very tiring and I would only try to do a couple of shops, max 3 a day otherwise dresses will all start to look the same.
Are you hiring a marquee at home or on the grounds of Lough Rynn for the day after? It sounds like you going to have a brilliant weekend!

From your list nothing big is missing as far as I can see. I know you mentioned that friends are doing hair and makeup but I would maybe do a trail run to see what look you want while your home. I am not going to get any of the jewelry or hair bling until I have had my trial so i know what suits.

Best of luck with it all the planning! :wv

I wouldn't worry either - I think it's more important at this stage to have the "big" things done and you have all of those done. I would maybe say you should do the menu tasting in September when you are home, as it's usually done 6 months roughly before the wedding - but maybe the girls in Lough Rynn could accommodate you and do it in May.
As regards your list, registering for the marriage was for us painless, you seem to have got good advice above as to how to do it. Lough Rynn provided chair covers for our wedding comp. - is that what you meant by "chairs". We're planning on looking at cars next - we have narrowed choice down to Smyth's in Roscommon and Davy Connell cars (longford)...both local enough and have nice cars, so maybe you could go visit both of these if you haven't identified people yet.
Wedding rings probably won't take up much time either, 'cause it's more matching what you want with what you have - so not as much time required as when buying engagement ring :yelrotflmaosmilie: (well that was true for me anyway!)
Not sure what you mean by dancefloor - is this anything we can help with?

So far my most "stressful" thing was choosing the wedding ceremony singers - we just couldn't decide - but it was still enjoyable!

Feel better after your notes, I just decided to leave it till the year mark and then look into things, but you've made me feel better.

Thanks for the link, didnt think the hse would have anything to do with it! my sisters H2b just sent me it to me today too, so will get onto that as my H2b will properly not be able to get time off work to come home for my sisters wedding in Sept. So june is the only option, hopefully well get a slot. Home for 3 weeks.
I will try limited myself to 2 shops for Dress shopping a day or like you said they will all look the same or I will just begin not to care! The marquee is just a glorified tent to have on H2b lawn the day after..with bales as seats! hoping to have a kiwi bbq probably in the irish rain! My friend has her own salon and has been doing my hair since I was 16 so knows it pretty well, i'll be getting it done for my bros wedding and thinking about leaving it down with roller curls for that and could be a sneaky trial for my own. I dont think anyone will notice or remember a year later. But it might not suit dress etc. same story with makeup dont know her very well but she did a great job last time and I will be going pretty natural. Probably will do the same as you with jewellry and leave it till near the end.

Menu tasting will have to be done in June too im beginning to realise would be missing a treat if I did it on my own. I knew 'chairs' looked a little odd, but my one extravagance will be getting chiavari chairs for the function room and a black and white dancefloor, might not happen yet, but would look to even get a 2nd hand dress to get these! Weird I know. Got a good quote so will just follow that up. Cars is the one thing I have NO idea about and my other half doesnt really car, he thinks its not a big deal but then again closer to the day we will still need one! Will leave it to himm, was thinking of getting a VW 'camper' bus for our bridal party so they could all be together but then again they might want to go with their partners, so will just chat to them abot it when home. Will check out those car places for ours as nice to get local. Just going to price wedding rings as we get tax off wehn we leave dublin airport, only benefit of the recession driving us to the other end of the world! But we fly through dubai too so might be an option. DOnt think it will take too much time really. I used up all my ring points on the engmt ring too! :compress

I will update ye on my 3 week sprint wedding planning, sure I have will some rants and funny stories by the end of it all! :o)ll
