Stairs - Help needed!!?

Hi Ladies,
We are nearly at the finishing line of our new house, maybe a month or so to go before we move in. ONe of the last things we need to put in is a stairs and as you can imagine money is running out. we have around 1k budgeted for stairs and I got a quote back today for 3k ... shocked to say the least. Just wondering has anyone any recommendations on where they got stairs, we are carpeting it anyway so cheap timber is all we need really. Saw stairs in B & Q the last day, might go in and check it out.

We have a lovely stairs, oak balustrade with a turn and cream painted spindles, all in 1250 euro in 2009 from g and j joinery in navan co. meath . I cut out photos from magazines and asked them to make it, -we are carpeting the steps too but havent got round to it yet !!

Plenty of carpenters out of work im sure you could ask someone to build you one for your budget. I know someone who did this in Galway

I actually got mine from the same joinery and paid 600 for a red deal stairs in 2010.
