Probably bit late at this stage but wear the original dress OP. It's silver for gods sake. The don't wear white argument wouldn't have even occurred to me for this dress!

Think unless dress is full length white dress then who cares what they wear. Though we are totally obsessed in this country with the 'right' way to host/attend weddings :o0

OP - I stick to my guns.

If you like the dress and are happy with it then no one will think you are being a b*tch or anything like it. It's a metallic silver dress - but white or cream or ivory. It is nothing like a bridal dress!!!

However if you're into online shopping I'm in love with two shops at the moment. Divine Boutique and Ruby Rouge. Both sell their dresses through Facebook so if you're laid up take a gander.

Honestly though, its not at all bridal so I wouldn't be at all worried about that!

Personally, I think it's a fab dress. I'd defo go for it. I'm getting married in a few weeks and it wouldn't bother me in the slightest if someone wore white/cream etc., unless they were obviously trying to look like a bride!! The only thing I would say is that people may talk, if they're sad enough to think that way, but it'd only be the usual suspects iykwim a.k.a bitchy aunty Nuala! And in that case, she's just jealous that she wouldn't pull it off!

I was at a wedding once and unknowingly wore a dress almost identical to the bridesmaids! :-8 I was mortified and apologised to the bride.

I would say no to the dress on it's own as I just don't think that it is very summery. I think silver is more of a winter/christmas colour. However if you brigten it up with bright accessories like pink as some of the wollies suggested then I think it would be lovely. It is way too short on the model for a wedding but as you said you are not as tall as the model.
