At Horetown House, we can make your Ceremony a truly memorable occasion. The Ceremony is performed in either one of our drawing rooms or the Major Lackin Dining room.

Up to 50 guests can be seated in our drawing room for a civil ceremony, larger numbers can be facilitated in an adjoining room with a PA System if required.

Ours is a very intimate venue which offers the Bride & Groom and their guests privacy and luxury and a sense of serenity.

House Weddings Upstairs

Drinks Reception will be held in front Hall.

For all Weddings at Horetown House, parties will have the use of the entrance hall for their drinks reception, along with the two drawing rooms, to allow their guests to relax while photos are being taken. Your party will also have full use of these rooms in the evening after the meal should they prefer some quiet time away from the Band or DJ downstairs.

Weddings up to 30 Guests

We offer you the Major Lackin Private dining room, giving your party an intimate, personal atmosphere, with old world style and luxury.

Weddings of less than 40.

The stone room, which is the oldest part of The Cellar, is ideal for numbers under 40 and allows the newer section of the restaurant to be used for seating, with sofas and low tables for your guests to relax before dancing the night away in the Cherry Room with your own bar.

Weddings of less than 60

For parties under 60 we offer dining in the Stone and the Middle section and we can set up the Cherry Room for dancing.

House Weddings Downstairs Up to 120 (2011 onwards)

We offer use of all three sections of the restaurant for dining and use the upstairs drawing rooms for your evening relaxation. As you take time to chat upstairs we will rearrange the rooms downstairs with sofas and low tables for guests to return to while your band and DJ set up in the Cherry Room. Alternatively dancing can be upstairs if numbers allow.

Marquee Weddings New for 2011

Due to increasing demand for our Marquee Weddings we have invested in our own marquee, saving couples on average €5000 in hire fees. At Horetown House we treat our Marquee Weddings exactly the same as our House Weddings, using the same high standard of delph, cutlery, linen and glassware, to serve the exquisite food our kitchen is renowned for.

The Weekend Wedding

The Weekend wedding is becoming very popular at Horetown House. The second day gives the Bride & Groom time to relax with their guests and families. We offer a Buffet or BBQ which extra guests may be invited to this second day and can provide outdoor entertainment for your guests. For those having a small number to their ceremony and reception this is an ideal way to include friends and family who would like to take part in your celebrations, and is an ideal opportunity to involve children who may not attend the day before.

Testimonials

  • We both fell in love with Horetown House the day we went to see it, nothing had prepared us for this fine sympathetically restored country house & lovely laid back owners in Tom & Bernie White. When we learned we could get married and have our wedding reception under one roof we booked our date straight away. Not only had we acquired one of the best hidden gems in Ireland for our wedding but we also acquired the best wedding planner any bride to be could have in Kate White, Kate ensured we did not have any stressful moments at all in the run up to the wedding, she chose our menus & wine, thought of things before we did and was always an email away. She even organised the hairdressers for my bridesmaids & I & to our surprise had a lovely bottle of champagne waiting there for us that morning to calm the nerves. Our day was perfect & all our guests just couldnt believe there was such a place as Horetown House, they are still talking about the location, the views, the food. One text read What a brill day! the location, ceremony & the food was wonderful, not to mention the wine, we enjoyed ourselves so much & are crippled from all the dancing. Thank you so much That pretty much summed up the opinions of all our guests. We enjoyed our day so much we are trying to think of an excuse to have another party at Horetown House!!! Tom, Bernie & Kate White, again thank you so so much & we wish you all the very best of luck in the future.

  • We had our wedding reception in Horetown House on May 8th 2009.
We had a small wedding with 40 adults and 2 children. Of the 40 adults, 14 were over 50 and the rest were late 20s early 30s.
To get a feel for the place, we spent Valentines weekend there. It was just so lovely, we got there late on Friday night, had a relaxing couple of drinks by the big open fire and then on Saturday evening we had our meal in the cellar restaurant downstairs. The food was fabulous and the staff were so lovely.
We had to hire out the whole house, but as there are only 10 rooms, they were all occupied by our family members. The fact that you have the whole house to yourself on the day of the wedding is a great idea, because it is just you and your guests and the staff and it means that their whole attention is given over to you.
No one had a bad word to say about our day, in fact they were in awe of the place and the staff.
They still rave on about it. A lot of them say they will go back for a meal or to stay some weekend as a treat.
Simply fabulous. My only complaint is that the day went too fast !
It certainly wont be the last time we visit Horetown house.
Thank you to Kate, Tom and all the staff that helped us out on that day.
