 18th century Westport House, which is now considered to be one of Ireland’s National Treasures is situated in a superbly romantic Parkland setting with lake, waterfalls, terraces and  beautiful gardens all overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, Clew Bay and Clare Island. It provides a  backdrop like nowhere else in the world for a couple to celebrate the most memorable and special day of their lives........

It forms an event in one’s life to have seen that place, so beautifulit is, and so unlike all the other beauties that I know of. Were such beauties lying upon the English shores, it would be a world’s wonder, perhapsif it were on the Mediterranean or the Baltic, English travellers would flock to it by the hundreds. Westport House offers couples the opportunity to celebrate one of the most important days of their lives in a completely unique  and intimate setting  - Totally exclusive and theirs for the day!. The House which is still privately owned by the Browne Family who built it in1730 is still very much as it was,  and allows you to go back in time where you will find yourselves surrounded by original furniture, magnificent paintings, open fireplaces, parquet floors and breathtaking architecture in every room- a living documentation of 300 years of Irish Heritage.

The rooms available for Weddings at Westport House are the most spectacular. The Entrance Hall has a magnificent Barrel vaulted ceiling by Richard Cassels and a sweeping marble staircase by George Wilkenson. This room is where guests gather to have their champagne reception on arrival and is also an ideal location for photo memories of the day.The Library and The Morning Room are also available for guests to enjoy and relax in.

The Drawing Room which leads off from the Entrance Hall is where the dining takes place for smaller Weddings. Westport House  can cater for up to 60 guests in this very intimate room where there is a beautiful 19th century hand painted ceiling. Adjoining the Drawing Room is The Long Gallery where larger numbers can be catered for. This is  also where the dancing or post dinner Party Celebrations take place.

For larger Weddings there is also a Marquee site adjacent to the House.

Westport House provides an opportunity not to be missed for that Special Day in a setting that will not allow you to leave without implanting everlasting great memories, photo albums and the best kick start you could ever dream of  for the rest of your life!

• I attended the Sweeney wedding on NYE 2009/2010. It was a truely magical day/night.
  The ceremony on the staircase, the great bar and friendly bar staff and their fabulous cocktails served up in oranges.The venue made for a truely magical day/night.
  Goes without saying, it was one of the most memorable weddings I've attended.

• We have wonderful memories of our wedding day captured so beautifully at Westport House. Luckily the weather was fine considering it was 1st November, but being at the house offered us the opportunity to have photos taken in some stunning locations - around the lake, under the trees and inside the house itself. It goes without saying that the house with its timeless appeal proved to be an amazing back-drop for capturing our big day.

• We got married on New Years Eve 2009 in Westport House and couldn't have wished for a more perfect day! We had our ceremony on the marble staircase surrounded by our friends and family...got some stunning photos on the grounds and in the house....superiour service from all the staff and suppliers to both ourselves and all of our guests just made us all feel so, so welcome. Having the place all to ourselves really made us feel even more special and having the freedom to roam in such a spectacular venue really added to our guests' experience. If you're considering getting married on the West Coast - you HAVE to take a look at Westport House!
