6 days til The Northern Ireland Forum will be closed

Not impressed by this, I'm also having a cross border wedding so would not want a website that concentrates solely on the north! I can't be bothered using two sites, so will not use either of them! Bad decision WOL

I don't think we're told we have to move sites (well kind of). They will just be deleting the Northern Ireland discussion thread on this and we can still stay (although they would like us to move to the NI one).

I just wish they would keep the NI thread for current users and not delete it.

No we dont have to move but they shouldnt be closing the NI forum and moving it! Why should we???

BIG BOO BOO......................... :eek

Getting married in Donegal also and find the mix of forums GREAT. I browse between them all and have found the Northern Ireland forum a really useful tool.

Is this a decision admin have made without doing a bit of market research. :eek or is it more revenue based?

Either way I won't be jumping over to a completely different website to check out the northern ireland forum...

Silly WOL! >:o(

I am another Donegal bride, and I know many others like me who have used a mix of NI and ROI suppliers... especially where we are from (less than 40 mins from border). I don't use the NI forrum as much as others like Old Faithful, but I check in to find info on suppliers etc all the time.

It's a HUGE shame that we won't have this facility any more, (and I very much doubt that there'd ever be a suggestion to shunt the Dublin WOLs or Munster WOLs off to their own site, so why us Ulster users?)

has to be a money decision the more web space they have the more advertising space, maybe they think they will atract more nothern ireland suppliers by opening a new forum for it, cant see it going as well as this one is though, i also live on the border and found it great when i could check between all the forums,

Im a Donegal Bride while technically not a Northern Ireland Bride, I go between the forums as sometimes its good to get feedback from people in my neighbouring counties and also check the suppliers aswell!!

I am not happy that I would have to go to a different site to get good feedback on suppliers across the border! And also chat to brides from my province!!!!! I think this is a bad move and only shows how narrow minded people outside of Ulster can be about "Northerners"!!!

I couldn't believe it when I heard this. I am a 'Northerner', when we got married we had our reception in 'the South'. Why? Because the hotel we had it in, was probably closer than any hotels in the North to me. I can't believe that people would not take this into consideration when deciding to start a completely new website.
I feel really annoyed about this- as a previous poster said, I too believe that Ireland is all one- so many of us shop cross border, work cross border etc. so therefore just don't see this big divide- I can't believe a website such as WOL would create such a divide online!
I'm not making much sense probably- I should have waited until I calmed down before I posted.
Also, I am very very disappointed that admin have not thought it worthwhile to reply to this thread.

This is absolutely ridiculous!!! Why is there any need to delete the NI section of the forum??? I joined because the existing forums available to NI brides were very quiet and I found WOL much more helpful.

Wake up Admin, you will lose a lot of traffic because people will not bother with both sites. You should have canvassed for opinions first!!!

Just managed to get registered on the new site after trying for ages, and was so disappointed there are about 2 users on it, i think this is a completely bad decession by WOL and really can not believe that they have not came back to address this or try and justify their decission.

I will not be using the new site as I dont like it and do not want the hassle of logging onto two seperate sites. So I may not use either site. Ireland is One and WOL should know this. By the way im in Tyrone having reception in Donegal. So use all the site at the min.

Apologies for not posting sooner. :-8

The only forum in WOL.IE to date on a geographic basis is the Ni forum. We do not have a Munster, Connaught and leinster forum as our research showed that wollies would prefer a more integrated forum – with the whole country.

There is also alot of feedback among NI brides that a NI specific website would be beneficial – so NI brides now have the option to use both sites.
As we now have a NI forum at http://www.weddingsonlineni.com the NI forum within the .IE site is being closed down.

WeddingsonlineNI.com will have lots more info that is NI specific. Wollies from any area of Ireland are welcome and free to post any topics related to NI within the other forums on the .IE site, the same way as wollies post topics related to other areas of Ireland. Also of course, Ni topics can be posted on WeddingsonlineNI.com.

Regards
