New Wolly here, got engaged less than two weeks ago. And no... I'm not in the wrong forum - we set our date today... 27 July 2012! So - 11 weeks to sort out a wedding! Can it be done? Watch this space... But we already have venue and registrar booked; guest list compiled (admittedly it will be just 20 people max); invites and place cards designed; my dress, shoes and veil tried on and ordered; and an engagement party planned. Next on the list: organising celebratory hooleys in three different countries (long story)!

PS It's not a shotgun wedding, either :o0

Congrats on engagement, we are getting married the same date! :wv

Welcome to WOL & congrats fixibelle :hyper: We're also getting married on the same date! Enjoy the build up & all the hooleys :o0 I'm having a mini hen this weekend before my main one on 8th/9th June :o)ll

Thanks a mil MrsK and have a brilliant time at the mini-hen!

Progressing well with plans... Just sorted out venue for one of the hooleys and it looks like we can do it for under 500 quid (50 people, fizz on arrival, decent finger food). Made ceremony invitations last night and they look great (total cost: about €15). Also decorated a dozen votive candles with stick-on ivory lace and ribbon and they look fab! (cost: about €10) And can reuse them at the hooleys by throwing in some tealights!

This weekend we'll be emailing invitations to the hooley guests and next week sending proper invitations to the ceremony. Ring shopping next weekend; also visit to wedding venue to see room, agree menu and pay deposit on rooms and meal! Will be picking up bridesmaid dress and accessories too (day out in London with the bridesmaid - will also involve afternoon tea in Harrods, yay!).

It's all go...! :o0

Hi excitedbride :) I bought my shoes a few weeks ago in Glitzy Bitz. I got them for €40.....they are simple but comfy so i'm delighted. I didn't want to spend a fortune on them especially when they're not going to be seen & will never be worn again.

I had my first wedding dress fitting last Wednesday & i have my second fitting on the 1st of June :wv

Hi all! Getting very close now alright, had my hen end of april, fab night had by all but I was very poorly sick the next day, stupid h2b answered most of his mr & mrs questions wrong cause he knew I had to do a shot of flavored vodka every time I got one wrong.....13 shots later I kind of lost all sense of decorum! But fab night! Just be warned....why an I marrying him again?!
invites all out and most replies received (planning from uk so has to do it a bit earlier). Dress fitting 18th june, all other clothes sorted (oh, bridesmaids, groomsmen etc).
Orders of service printed, readings organized, transport sorted

Only need to:
Collect his wedding ring from jeweller
Confirm and pay suppliers
Make up favor bags (buy dairy milk mini's to go in them, already have the seed bombs, bubbles and bags)

Posting the last of my invites today, hand delivered thoose close to us last night. Sorted the loan with the credit union. Rings and favours next. Can't wait :o)ll :o)ll

It depends on your dress and the material i'd say. i has to ring my lady in jan to make an appt, she had said i could leave it to this week but went with a week ealier as wanted my mun to come with me and she's on hols this week. I need to go back now the end of June at which stage she will get me to fit the dress on again and she siad there might be a few minor adjustments after that. I had lost over a stone since i bought the dress which was just a small bit loose when i bought it so i quess it really depends how the dress is fitting you now and what the material is, and also whether you intend to loose more weight or not. I reached my goal before my fitting so just keeping it steady now.

Have the shop been in contact with the supplier?? Are you having your alterations done in the same shop as where you bought the dress? I ordered mine in mid December & was told my dress would be in around mid May but it arrived the first week in May. I've already had my first fitting & have my second one on 1st of June. I am happy to have my fittings early......it's one less thing to worry about in the weeks leading up to the wedding :wv

I would also say it depends on whether the alterations where booked through the shop or not. What arrival date did they give you when you ordered the dress? Ring the shop if you have concerns i think they all know how anxious us brides can get. My wedding is the end of July and i've had one fitting already, it really depends on whether you are happy with how you are or whether you are trying to loose a few pounds or not. I got to my goal weight before my fitting but had given myself that date as a cut off anyway. I know my dressmaker said the alterations depends on the detail etc in the dress. best of luck with the fitting it really is lovely to see the real shap of the dress :o)ll
