Re: would u wear this as wedding guest?
Watched Craig Doyle the other night and he the "lovely" Franc on and he was asked twice about it being inappropriate to wear white/cream etc to a wedding and twice he repeated saying that it's not.
Now, I certainly don't go by him but a lot seem to love his advice so just thought it interesting that the most Famous Wedding Co-ordinator/planner in Ireland also agreed that wearing a light or white colour is not a faux pas or any other nonsense of the sort. ![]() Re: would u wear this as wedding guest?
Our wedding was just over a week ago and I could honestly not tell you if there was one person there wearing white/ivory because I simply did not care what other people were wearing, I was having too much fun.
By the end of the night there were people who had changed into runners, lots of people wearing flip flops, boys with shirts open or changed into t-shirts, ties worn around peoples heads and more. All of which I took as a sign that everyone was really enjoying our wedding and the dancing ![]() [url=http://www.TickerFactory.com/]

Re: would u wear this as wedding guest?
+1 I'm afraid.
Re: would u wear this as wedding guest?
I personally would not be offended if someone turned up to my wedding in this BUT....there are plenty of lovely non-white-looking dresses in the shops so if I was choosing a dress for a wedding myself I would choose something else. Why risk ruffling people's feathers! Everyone knows how seriously people take wedding etiquette. I would play it safe and buy a colourful dress to avoid potential offence.

Its a lovely dress,i think if any bride was offended by a guest wearing a silver dress they'd need their head read.If a guest turned up to my wedding in a white/ivory dress it wouldn't bother me at all.

Re: would u wear this as wedding guest?
if it was longer (i'm 5ft 10) & had a different neckline, then yes i would wear it. it's a neutral colour so you could put almost any colour accessory with it - pink, purple, blue, green, coral, lemon, navy, black.... i can't see how it would even remotely resemble your standard wedding dress. i certainly won't be policing guest attire at my own day! unless a guest shows up wearing a full length white dress, then i don't think there is any justification for throwing a strop. such childishness

There's a simple solution to this. Ask the bride. Say: I've found a fabulous dress, but I want to make sure you're ok with it as it's a pale colour. What do you think?"
I was in that position a few years back, going to a wedding in Greece. My dress was white linen with a (largish) copper print. I asked the bride - she hesitated, then said "no problem". The hesitation was enough for me - I went with a blue option :D
Re: would u wear this as wedding guest?
Ridiculous...that any Bride would have a say or even a wonder opr an interest in what their Guest would or should wear.
Is this what getting married and planning has come to? Wondering what a Guest is going to wear? Ridiculous, my favourite word of the night. ![]() Re: would u wear this as wedding guest?
I personally wouldn't care at all - people could wear jeans and a Tshirt to mine and I wouldn't mind, as long as they were there! The point is that there ARE brides who get hung up on this stuff, and it sounds like the OP thinks that the bride in question may be one of them - therefore asking her might be the way to go :-)
Re: would u wear this as wedding guest?
ThiS thread has gone out of control. I wouldn't ask the bride. A good friend asked me months ago if I would mind if she wore cream to my wedding. It really annoyed me. At this stage I barely had my own dress ordered and thought Jesus I've enough to do organising myself and now u want me to tell u what to wear!! I felt it was up to her to decide what was appropriate to wear.you shouldn't put be putting the bride in the awkward position of telling u what to wear. And as we know as bride we can be extra sensitive! It's not an issue that would of ever entered my head until she asked the question and until I read threads like this. Before I prob never would of taken notice what colour my guests wore but now I'm more likely to which is silly. I don't believe anyone can upstage the bride. But being honest I wouldn't buy a cream or White dress specially for a wedding as there is the possibility of upsetting someone and why take that risk. However I know if uve a really nice dress in the wardrobe it can be tempting! I don't think there should be a problem with a silver dress.
