Anyone been to Barbados or St Lucia. Looking for resorts!!

Postby peeps000 » Sun May 06, 2022 5:51 pm

Hi Guys,

Has anyone been to Barbados or St Lucia on Honeymoon who can recommend resorts?

I just booked flights to New York as there was a 24 hr sale. We really want to go to the Caribbean but I'm only discovering now, how expensive resorts are!! Our budget is approx E6000 and I would love to go for 2 weeks. We are even considering doing a cruise for a week first just to save on costs though I'm not sure we are too keen.

If anyone has any resort or travel agent recommendations, I would really appreciate it!!

Thanks

O-O

We've stayed at beach view before

http://www.beachviewbarbados.com/

It's self catering accommodation (although we had breakfast included). It's not a resort as such, but a good option if you're trying to keep the budget down. It's a lovely place to stay. And the area is nice enough that you can walk around/get the local bus, and don't need to be in the confines of a resort (unless you want to be!)

We actually met loads of nice people here and it was a really memorable holiday. We ended up attending the wedding of a couple we met here who got married at the hotel!

As far as resorts go, we spent a day at the Crane Resort. Mega pricey and really commercialised, as in you could be anywhere in the world, so not for me, but may be what you're looking for!

And by the way, myself and OH went on a cruise for the first time last year and LOVED it! It was full of couples and families, loads to do night and day. Was expensive though! But I'm sure you could get something fab for 6k!!

You should talk to Travel Councellors. Give them your budget and they'll come up with some good ideas. Just google them and you can probably find somebody in your area. They work from home usually and you can do it all over phone / email.

My friend got married in St Lucia and we stayed in the Bay Garden Beach resort. Was really nice and quite reasonable if I remember correctly. Close to lots of nice restaurants and right on the beach...worth taking a look!

I cannot recommend the body holiday in St Lucia enough. One of the best holidays I have ever been on, plenty to do or just relax if you want to. You also get an hour spa treatment per day when you are there included in the package.Absolutely amazing, definatley worth a visit.

Thanks so much for that guys. These are great recommendations! Torn between Barbados and St Lucia now but that's not a bad complaint to have I guess! Currently living in Oz, so that was meant to be 6k dollars, but all these resorts look pretty reasonable.

Thanks again :)

The fairmont in barbados is stunning. Had lunch there and ended up staying the day. Beautiful place, great friendly staff with great service and the beach and views were stunning. The sandy lane always get recommendations but when we visited i found it a bit snooty. Some people like that though. The crane is gorgeous but away from all the action. Having said that barbados is quite small so you can travel anywhere for the day. But for me personally i couldn't handle two weeks in the crane. Had you thought about splitting your trip, one week in st lucia and one in barbados? We went to the crane for three nights and another hotel for four when we visited and it was grand.

Yeah I'm not too keen on the Crane as it seems to be pretty far away. Would it be fair to say that St James would be the best area to stay if we're looking for activity/ restaurants etc? At first we wanted to split our trip and have 5 nights on each island but from looking at the price of resorts, I just don't think we could afford it. Now we are thinking a 6 night all inclusive cruise with Royal Caribbean to Haiti, Jamaica, Grand Cayman and Mexico and then to either St Lucia or Barbados for the last 5 nights to chill out. Still torn between the two islands though :duh:

I'm off on honeymonn next Sunday and going to Barbados :)

We're staying in Turtle Beach - Elegant hotels, it's close to St. Lawrence Gap where you'll find night life and restaurants etc! Have a look at this site. They've another hotel called Crystal Cover, that's more couples orientated but wouldn't be for us as we like somewhere a bit busier!

Hey there!

Went to Barbados and St Lucia on hols 2 years ago and I preferred St Lucia, its more tropical and lush and there is much better scenery I thought. The pitons are amazing, a day we spent snorkelling there was just unreal. We stayed in Ti Kaye village and it was incredible- so romantic and the staff were super. We were the only ones there not on HM! Would love to go back there.

In barbados we stayed at the Bougainvillea resort- near St Lawrence gap alright and some good bars and restaurants there. Up around St James is lovely, v classy. The Crane is far from places alright and is on the atlantic coast so the sea is rougher from what I remember.
