Re: who come first man or woman on address labels
Hey there, to the best of my knowledge the person you know best is always named first whether they're male or female, not sure what the exact etiquette is when you know them equally...I'd probably name the woman first personally?
Re: who come first man or woman on address labels
I can't say I've ever noticed to be honest - I'm after printing out 140 invitations with the H2B's name before mine, so all etiquette is gone out the window there!!
I wouldn't worry about it, go with what sounds better - I suppose Mr & Mrs John Smith, Mr John & Mrs Mary Smith, or Mrs Mary & Mr John Smith - actually the woman's name first looks a bit weird there.... Re: who come first man or woman on address labels
I'm not sure what the proper etiquette is but if the couple were married I put mr. & mrs. John smith on the envelope and john and mary on the invite. But if the couple weren't married I would put my friends name first & then partner ( if living together) i.e. Miss. Mary smith &mr.john murphy and Mary & John on the invite. if not living together I would just address it to the friend and put the friends name first on the invite I.e. Mary & John
Hope that makes sense!

Re: who come first man or woman on address labels
it all looked so wordy & formal to me that i just put "Mary & John Smith' on most, a few friends still have their maiden names but it would just get out of hand so I put female name 1st so the surname was more attached to the male name. if you get me!
a few oldies I put it a bit more Mr & Mrs John Smith.
Re: who come first man or woman on address labels
My mam informed me the correct way is " mr & mrs John smith.
Re: who come first man or woman on address labels
For most of mine i just addressed it to whomever i know best ie. Mary Smith then on the invite out Mary & John.
I think i left out mr & mrs altogether. Even the couples i put on envelope were just Mary & John Smith. A few older relatives i put Mrs M Smith. You could put Mr & Mrs J Smith. Oooooooooooooh this is getting confusing now!!! [url=http://www.TickerFactory.com/]

I put up a thread similar to this a few weeks ago but to be honest I was still lost as to addressing envelopes.
I think it should be Mr. & Mrs. John Smith for a married regardless of who you know better - am I right in saying that....... For a couple who live together but not married, is it - Mr. John Smith & Ms. Mary Egan............. [url=http://www.TickerFactory.com/]

Re: who come first man or woman on address labels
Some people seem to get really annoyed if this isn't done right, we have had invites addresses all kinds of ways so don't worry if you don't get everyone exactly right. There doesnt seem to be one solution for everyone, I am going to do them like this
