Hi all,
I have been watching this site for advice.I said i would join since i just got a BFP. Hard to believe really, when do you book your first appointment with the doc. So clueless.

poppym, congratulations on your bfp. Most gp pregnancy tests are less sensitive and may not show a bfp until af is about a week late. the gp has to confirm your pregnancy first and then refer you to whatever maternity hospital you want to go to. The hospitals differ with when they give your first appointment. You may be seen in the first eight weeks if you have a particular medical history or any previous problems with pregnancies and other than that, most will give you your first apt sometime about 15 weeks. i'm another one of you who just four positives & have apt with doc on monday! first time we tryed we conceived it looks like so we're delighted, excited...& a little shocked!Firstly thank you so much for this thread it is fantastic! answers so many questions :o)ll

looks like i'm 4 weeks gone

so scared re the labour but it has to come out!!!

Next, can someone please tell me what does BFP mean???

hi, jsut wondering if the first scan is always 15 weeks if u go public and have no real medical history? i thought people get scans at 3 months which is 12 weeks??????
also how soon after positive home test should u go to doctor as have no idea. think i am 4 weeks pregnant but its really like 2 weeks from ovulation....???

glamour, depends at what stage you did the home test. Most gp tests don't show the positive until you are nearly a week late for your cycle. They are less sensitive than the commercial ones.
For the scans, it depends on which hospital you attend. Most hospitals just offer one scan free to low risk mothers. Some do that at 12 weeks and some at 20 weeks and some in between that time. Holles St do it between 18 and 22 weeks. I am high risk and got the nuchal scan done at 12 weeks as well. I get regular mini scans though in the out patients but I think it is because I am in the high risk clinic. Best of luck.

Wow i cant believe this is happening. Im so excited, happy, aprehensive.
Took my first test for this cycle last night and got a BFP. NOthing can describe the feeling i had when i saw that second line. Took another test this morning at the crack of dawn and there it was again. I officiall love FR tests.

Thanks for all the advice, i shall follow it very carefully.

Just need to book an app with the doc. Im only 4 weeks at this stage so would i be right to book an appointment for next week as i hear the docs tests might not be as sensitive as HPTs?

I just got my BFP yesterday also. Super shocked and excited. Hope its a sticky. I used the CB digital and they say 1-2 weeks, soo early yet. I'm going to wait untill the end of next week or the start of the following week to go to the doctor. I have heard also that the doc's tests are not as sensitive and I would hate to get a BFN. Did another test again this morn. Its great to see them positive. DH is thrilled. Can't stop looking at me grinning :lvs
