Places you hate

Postby Heflen » Wed Sep 21, 2022 2:01 pm

Moniker /Heflen

Can I ask waht you hate about Clonee & Meath just out of interest?

What Moniker said about Clonee. I hate the Meath accent in general and have rarely had a nice encounter with Meath people...that could just be me though :)

Hmmm..understand about the Clonee thing....Row after row of house and not much else. Mind, Lucan is pretty similar these days. Seems to be very little planning put into these places.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of Lucan either. There are a lot of raging Pro-Lucanites on this site though, so I'll say no more

Those monotonous housing estates seem to be popping up everywhere. Give it two years and I don't see how you'll be able to tell the difference between Lucan and Blanch. Everywhere has become so generic, it's really sad. There's no character about the place and everything is concreted and surrounded by walls. Feels almost claustrophobic.

And very few places are pedestrian friendly now either. Places like Liffey Valley or Blanchardstown Shopping Centre etc. You have to walk through an ocean of cars just to get to the door.

And then we have 'the local' complexes. You know those little blocks of buildings that will contain a Lidl, Spar, 'local' hairdresses, 'local' chinese, 'local' pub...etc. etc.

Sorry for the rant...not sure what my point is to be honest...

Can we have more than one hated place?!
Naas Road
Dublin City centre
anywhere I feel like a sardine in a tin
(that's a lot of places!)
An escalator can never break: it can only become stairs. You would never see an "Escalator Temporarily Out Of Order" sign, just "Escalator Temporarily Stairs. Sorry for the convenience"

I HATE TK Maxx in Stephen's Green, there's no air, everybody's really cranky, you have to put a whole lot of effort into looking for stuff, and most of it looks kinda cheap and nasty!

I HATE the Maynooth / Dublin train - it's more like the Calcutta Express!

I don't like Temple Bar nightclubs either. The restaurants are great, and some of the pubs are good, but it just gets far too packed for me!

I totally agree with people hating the M50, in particular when there are a$$ holes trying to intimidate you while you are driving!

Banks - very boring!

I hate being in bed when my boyfriend is working nights! It's not the same!

Swords - but I don't quite know why!!

I know how you feel about "new Lucan" and "new Blanch"- they are all the same and lots of places don't seem to ahve their own identity. The older parts of Lucan and Blanchardstown are really charming I think. I live in a development near Clonee, and we deliberatley picked a place that looks like a little town as opposed to row after row of the exact same houses. Cost a bit more but was well worth it!

This post was funny and I think its best not to name particular areas where people live. Lets stick to the M50/N7/Nightclubs etc.

My worst places are:
The Ilac Centre (can't wait till they do it up)
Leeson St clubs
Multi-storey car parks
ANY hospital waiting room
Dublin Bus on a wet day with all the windowns steamed up

Any particular part? I know South Bronx is a kip but some parts are lovely.

Trentuno restaurant in Castleknock. Has anyone ever had a good meal in there with even half way decent service??? The worst service EVER. Also, it's full of people just looking around trying to see who else is there...hate it.

The toilets in Stephens Green centre - do we still have to pay 10cent to pee at this day in age?
