Hey all,
Posting here as Im hoping you gals can give me inspiration for a blog name. Its all to do with nursery design and baby must haves (or mummy must haves lol). Want something thats catchy, I know when I was preggers with both of mine (2yo & 6months) I trawled blogs and wesites looking for design ideas and the name is soo important.
Posted this in P&B and M&K.
Thanks in advance, and when I get this up and running Ill be inviting you all for a read.

Some buzz words to consider:
project/ operation
stork
bean etc.

Want to stay away from "baby stuff" kind of names.
Thanks

(you're probably thinking "jeez if she cant think of a name for herself what kind of blogger is she" Fess up, thats what you're thinking :o0 ) Its just that I want my blog and pinterest account to have the same name. Thanks

How about something like 'Style Me Baby' along the lines of style me pretty like?

So the word style would be in there, if you're getting into design and the word baby is in there to tell people it's a maternity/baby site.

It's also a statement, like 'hey, style me baby!' you know?

Ok, shi*te, I just googled it and there are already lots of sites called Style Me Baby. I don't think they're Irish sites though.

I'll have another think!

It's a hard one Duffers. Took me two months to come up with a name I was happy with. And another month to process the registration. :o0 (So naturally, it's going to take me a while to think up a suggestion - I'll post here when I do.)

But I think it was worth the time spent, for two reasons. First, now if I'm talking to someone about the blog and I tell them the name, it's easy for them to remember and find it later. Second, while I was spending that time coming up with a name, I started writing - but not publishing. By the time my blog when live, I had over twenty posts lined up. I didn't use them all at once, but in the months that followed, it was great to have them there for those days/weeks when I couldn't think of anything to write. Then again, it all depends on what type of blog you want to have. I set myself a goal of publishing to my blog daily - and I think I pretty much achieved that in the first year, with the odd day here or there that I missed.

Now I know not everyone wants to publish something that regularly - it was just important for me to do it, because I knew that either I built blogging into my daily routine or I'd never get around to it. :)

Thanks a mil for the suggestions, but never logged on last night to see them and kinda came up with one. Now, where to start??

What site do you use to blog? (free one for the moment) Downloaded wordpress but hoping for something a bit simpler for a while. I have an account with gmail.....could I use one through that?

What do you use? Can my publishings be linked to Twitter and Facebook accounts?

Hey ladies, I'm running a competition up on the blog this week. It's for a really cool (in my opinion) John Deere ring pillow. I know most of ye are already married so may not be interested, but I would love it if you could let anyone that you think would be interested know.

http://onlygorgeousweddings.wordpress.com/2012/02/08/competition/

Cheers! :thnk

Also, Duffers, I use wordpress, but just the wordpress.com one, which they host for free and you don't have to download anything. I find it more reliable than blogspot.

Oh, and I've started my blogspot account back up again. It's http://notsowittywitterings.blogspot.com/ and it's kind of random crap and outfit posts and shtuff.

Duffers, I have a self-hosted wordpress blog. I like it because it means I have my own domain name, rather than a <name>.wordpress.com name. Also, I have more control about what I upload to the site and how I configure it.

Your other alternatives are a blogger account or a tumblr account. I actually quite like the look of some tumblr blogs around the place. I have to admit, I dislike blogspot, simply from the point of view of reading those blogs - it can be almost impossible to comment on them sometimes, and they often seem to hide the comment information away. (That's just a personal preference for the technical setup and functionality of blogspot, and no reflection on the actual blogs that are there!)

I was a bit nervous about self-hosting a wordpress blog - it was DH who talked me into it. And as it turns out there was nothing to be worried about. Installation and setup was easy, and I had to whole thing up and running in an evening.

I'd caution against free templates, because they often contain hidden code, which posts links on your site, or hides links and spam in the footers. I made that mistake with my first blog design, and it turned out the template was attempting to put spyware on people's PCs. Luckily noone was reading the blog at the time, so it was only my brother who was affected! You can buy really nice templates for €25/30 from sites like Themeforest, and again they are easy to install and setup.
