Dry skin

Dry skin

Postby McLisa » Sun May 06, 2022 7:20 pm

Girls I need help with dry skin, my skin has been as rough as sandpaper for few weeks now. I do have eczema so I'm prone to dry skin but I can't seem so shift this, I can't use any moisturisers with perfumes or too many chemicals in it and at minute I'm using one doctor gave me called double base, I also drink at least two litres of water a day so I don't think it's dehydration. I also exfoliate at least once a wk with either exfoliating gloves or a natural scrub.

Any help or recommendations?

I have dry skin and use dermalogica skin smoothing cream. However i would advise going to a beautican's to get a facial and expert advice on what you should be using.

Is it all over or just your face that's bad at the moment. For areas that are particularly bad, silcocks base can be quite good, E45 is very good for dry skin also. It can be used all over aswell.

When I've had bad dry skin in the past I find the Body Shop Body Butter is fab - go for the thickest one - I think Shea Butter is one of the thickest and hopefully won't have too many perfumey stuff in there that would irritate you further.

I had a really stubborn dry skin patch recently and the only thing that would shift it was Sanctuary 2 in 1 moisturising butter scrub.
No other scrub or cream, even in the same range, worked, but that did.

I had shocking dry skin a few weeks back- got oilatum face repair moisturiser and within days all of the dryness was gone! I also use aveeno daily exfoliating wash once a day,it's gentle enough for sensitive skin but good to scrub away dead old dry patches.

oooooh i might try this belcra, i need something to fix me quick i have my SIL to be hen party this weekend and need too look good not with skin that resembles the sahara desert :yelrotflmaosmilie: Fake tan is going to be a big no no so i dunno what i'm gonna do :o(

Teapotty i use oilatum shower, its like a thick oil that you massage into skin after you've washed and you briefly rinse it off and it leaves like a protective layer on your skin but i have kind of been lax with it so i'm gonna make sure i use it every time i shower now then slather on the moisturiser after and up my water intake

thanks girls O-O

Sunshimmer might be the way to go with tan- you can leave it till the last minute and hopefully your skin will have improved by then. Best of luck!

FIrst things first - if you exfoliate you make your skin drier, so stop exfoliating. If I were you I'd used Bio-oil or Jojoba oil, or coconut cold pressed and organic if you can find it. Use this to wash yourself and moisturise yourself.

Well the scrub was the only thing that worked for me and I tried everything from creme de la mer to porridge.

That makes sense actually! Was it any use? Honey is so sticky, was it really messy?

I only used a bit specifically on my dry patch.
I didn't find it any good but everyone's skin is different.
