Anyone in a non-church choir in Dublin?

Anyone in a non-church choir in Dublin?

Postby Anne Cordelia Shirley » Fri May 11, 2022 5:18 pm

I'm in a choir in work and really love it. I'm going on maternity leave soon though and I'll really miss singing. Just wondering if there are any non-church choirs out there or similar singing groups? As I'm not religious I'd feel quite the charlatan joining a local church choir.

I'm in an Irish speaking choir if that would be any interest to you?
About to finish up for the summer though, will start again in September.

Or the Enchiriadis Chamber Choir in Malahide? They have a Facebook page.

Thanks ladies, not sure if the Irish thing is for me but food for thought there. Must ask our conductor if he knows of any too.

Am intrigued ACS. How does a work choir work? Just imagined it with my current work place and all I got were four part harmonies on the state of the weather with a baritone solo from the boss reminding everyone to top up the kitty. Sort of like The Sound of Music meets The Office. How does it operate anyway?

I could've sworn I read Irish speaking choir there. Really must get these eyes tested.

Thanks for the link Whoop Whoop, there's certainly a lot of choirs around!

Hestia, the work choir is good fun, we sing at a few work dos a year. It's been on the go for a few years now, nothing too serious!

Ladies, am also interested in joining a choir. I would be looking for a choir in the South Dublin area. Just bumping up the thread to see if there's anymore of a response!

luckyladee - Foras na Gaeilge, sea!

We stop over the summer (our final 'concert' is 22nd May) and restart in September.

fx2012 - it's all Irish music, I don't recognise ANY of it but lots of others in the choir do, maybe from school or something...! Most of the choir members are a LOT older so their Irish is better as is their knowledge of the songs and poetry. I guess it's traditional kind of folksy stuff, in either 2 or 3 parts. Beautiful 'irishy' melodies!
