Hi BOR have you mentioned this to your vet? Our eldest little girl is like this every time she hears a drawer open she is over looking for food. Our vet said it stems from the fact that she was a starving stray kitten that we took in, she is obsessed with food. As I mentioned before the food we have her on has improved it but she is definitly food motivated. Is your cat out roaming about? Both of ours go out during the day and are in at night but with the short evenings they seemed to be in more and as a result they have put on a bit of weight but now that its getting brighter they are out for longer and will lose it all. It is heart breaking to hear your cat beg for food, another trick we tried was distraction, when she used to start we would have a small bouncy ball and start playing with her. This also did the trick to a certain extend but she is stil very much food obsessed.

Ah thanks for the reply Kitty. We didn't mention it to the vet, I don't know why cos we've up there a few times about other things, guess we just forgot to mention it. I will bring him up soon though cos it's driving my poor husband crazy!

BoR, I was just doing up a recommendation for a company I used recently when my dog was recovering from an illness and then thought of this thread. They deal with both cats and dogs. I would definitely email and ask advice as Kevin was very knowledgable and they are also cat obsessed so they might be able to help you!
