That makes me so angry

after seeing this ad on donedeal

http://www.donedeal.ie/for-sale/dogs/3225652

How can you just say must go today cause I cant take him with me? When you get a dog your life changes and you dont get rid of your dog just like that! Wouldn't you move only if you can take him as well? Even if h2b and I were movin to australia etc we would take our dog with us!! I just cant understand how can u be there for 4 years of the dogs life and just give him away cause your moving!!

>:o( The poor dog. That's how we got our dog - owners were emigrating and didn't take him. TBH think they just wanted to get rid of him so the emigrating story was an excuse. They didn't want to put any work into him and when he's bored he's bold so he was obviously acting up and rather than spend time training him they got rid of him.

When we were looking for our dog we were talking to a lady who had a cocker spaniel as well and was looking for a new home for him. Said he was bigger than they thought he was going to get! Eh, ffs did you not check all that out before committing to the cute little puppy. Because they didn't research properly the poor dog had to be uprooted and taken from his home. Makes me so mad!

I cant believe she said that! Were the total opposite - everyone says that our dog is huge and we just cant see that.. hes still our little boy..

I just cant understand what way these people think.. Im pretty sure they dont give their children away when they grow to tall, misbehave when their bored and most of all when they move house..

He's a lovely looking dog but I don't know many people who would take on a 4 yr old German Shepherd. Especially if the owners didn't care about him/train him etc.

By advertising him for free they are basically saying they don't care who takes him once he goes! Surely the decision to move wasn't overnight and they would have had plenty of time to make sure the dog was looked after. Hate the bit saying 'has to go today'. O:|

Look at this beautiful dog - how could anyone not want him. No reason for why they are selling him. If we didn't have our hands full with our mad yoke I'd love another one!

I thought of the exact thing kittycatt24 :o0

sorrentowife your absolutely right its not an overnight decision and h2b said he would be worried that whoever takes him might be involved in dog fights :o( His family had a 1yr old gsd stolen 2 weeks after they got it and the guards said it was prob taken for dog fights....

Id LOVE to go to Canada or australia but won't cause we couldnt leave our crew! Now we are very lucky that DH has a good job here and I can understand if people have to leave to find work, its quite expensive to bring a dog or cat abroad (as far as I know) so that mightened always be an option, but I really, really cannot understand if someone moves house how they can't keep their pet. You only have to look at the rehoming thread on boards and every 2nd post is because they are moving house - I don't believe the half of them.

We dont even like going on hols for more than a week coz we cant bear to leave them for that long!

Can understand the emigrating thing and how bringing the pet may not be an option for some people but as you say BusyDee - moving house and have to get rid of pet. Think the problem is so many people don't put enough thought into getting a pet and then when reality hits they just want to get rid of the problem.
We have to take our dog into consideration for everything we do and so many people can't understand why he has to come into the equation - we're told we spoil him etc because we always have to go home after a night out as wouldn't leave him alone all evening and night etc. Not fair on him.

Same! We were gone for 8 nights on hols last summer and we couldn't get from the airport quick enough to pick him up and see him. :-8

Were exact same taking our dog in consideration anywhere we go.. Had to collect mum from airport 2 weeks ago and take her home so ended up bringing him too.. he had a great time :o0 We take him everywhere and really cant imagine being without him for 2 weeks on honeymoon... Im glad my mum will be minding him so Im sure we'll be getting daily updates :) Saying that I cant imagine how u could give your dog away knowing u will never be part of his life anymore and putting him through all that stress

thats what I was thinking. Dont they know the scumbags that would snap him up. WOuld they not worry about him after having him for 4 years. How they they just discard their playful dog with all his little personality quirks and loyalty. Really angers me.

I would LOVE to go to Oz for a year and basically the only thing keeping me here is my 2 dogs. I could never imagine just giving them up..

I also had to stop looking at donedeal and rehoming threads as i find it far too upsetting..

maybe Im just cycnical but theres no way i believe all the "emigrating" crap in the rehoming threads...or no even better "can give hime them time he deserves" if thats the case Ireland must be underpopulated with half the population leaving and everybody must be working 80 hours per week. Im sorry but i just dont buy it. ;o(

I think its true in some cases, the minority of cases but otherwise people are just lying its an easy "excuse" to get rid of a pet. >:o(

We would love to move to Canada andf if we do our guy will def be coming, its only an extra flight, IMO many people dont look into the possibilites of bringing a pet with them, easy option is to leave them behind. While i know some people couldnt afford to bring them, many can and couldnt be bothered.

Where i work one Australian women joined 8 months ago, after 3 months her dog arrived too. What she did is, got herself and hubby and kids here first, then saved and brought her dog here. shes simply said leaving her behind was not an oiption.

there are ways and means to do it if people REALLY wanted to IMO :eek
