ttc after a miscarriage

ttc after a miscarriage

Postby cute kitten » Wed Jan 02, 2022 2:22 pm

hi girls, I am wondering if anyone would like to join me in a thread for those ttc after a m/c. or anyone who has been there to share their experience just so we'll know what to expect.

Here's my story so far and a couple of questions if anyone can help. I miscarried on 15th Dec. Well thats the date the heavy bleeding starting or do I count from when the spotting started?
I have been back and forth from the hospital for scans and blood tests. They monitored everything and as of Thursday nothing was left and my HCG level and gone down to non pregnant level. I spoke to my GP last week and he said we could start trying straight away but the hospital said a couple of months. Myself and DH have decided to wait til at least first AF. Well emm we planned it that way but had a couple of slip ups :-8
If it happens it happens.

Anyway, best of luck to all ttc and I hope 2008 is much happier for us all :xxx

Hi Lioness.
That's a great idea! I'm a newbie but I also had a miscarraige in December 07. I had to have a D&C and my period hasnt returned yet. My Husband & myself have decided to leave it till probably March to TTC just for emotional reasons and so that we are ready again if God forbid the same thing happens, Please God it wont!
I'm still taking my Folic acid and eating healthy to do all I can for my next pregnancy.
I'm so sorry for your loss, I know exactly what you are going through but everything happens for a reason and hopefully we will get to hold our babies in our arms soon! :lvs

Hi Girls
I had MC on the 13th Dec - Had a D and C on the 22nd - the hospital said to maybe wait for 2 periods but GP said that there is no need to take precautions in the meantime so if it happens it happens. AF has not returned yet so we are just waiting on that and then off we go again hopefully. We got pregnant first month TTC the last time so I am hoping we will be as lucky this time but of course anything can happen so I am trying not to dwell on that too much and just see what happens in the next few months - here to 2008 babies for us girls :wv

Hi girls,
Very sorry to hear of your losses. It is such a sad time. I hope you are all OK and healing a little every day. I would like to join your thread, I think its a fab idea. I had a MC in Oct. I was 9 weeks preg with twins when my first scan showed no heartbeats :o( . I had a D&C 5 days later on Oct 31.

Lioness, I would count the first day of heavy bleeding as day 1. We had a similar situation - GP said we could go for it anytime, hospital said minimim wait of 1 month before trying. We gave it a couple of weeks to let the D&C heal and then started TTC again As you say, if it happens, it happens.

Please God we will all have healthy pregnancies in 2008 and we can put 2007 behind us. :wv

TTCing after Miscarriage

Postby Vera » Wed Jan 02, 2022 4:14 pm

Hi Lioness,

I had a miscarriage this year aswell. I'm sorry for your loss.

My AF returned 5 weeks later after a D&C. We've started trying again and hopefully we will be successful very soon. It's too early to test this month but I feel I might be. We both feel we would like to know later this time as the count down to the 12 week mark is tortuous. But we know we won't be able to hold off testing.

Best of luck to you all. Fingers crossed I will be back on with good news shortly.

It's a great idea, I felt after my mc the only way to get over it was to be pregnant again.
I felt guilty about it as though I wasn't even grieving my loss but you can't change how you feel.
We took no precautions the month after mc but with no luck. I suppose when your body's ready it'll choose the time.

Hi girls,

Yes, this thread is a great idea...

I lost my angel in November at 10 weeks - a missed miscarriage. Had a d&c on November 23rd. Heartbroken isn't the word but time does help and we feel alot stronger now. Got my first af on December 19th. Going to wait until next af this month until we start trying. Can't wait to get things moving. We both want it so badly. Looking forward to chatting to you all.

Lots of babydust to us all. xxx

Had a D & C the following day that was just after christmas. Hospital doc said try away straight away but gp said wait for one af. decisions decisions what do you girls reckon to all that??

This thread should be of some help to others lets keep it all going.

Hi Girls,

I'm sorry to hear about all these mc's. It really is heartbreaking.

Firstly congrats to Baby Peanut!!!! Best wishes for the next 8 months.

I found out about our missed mc at the end of September (on our second wedding anniversary). I was almost 11 weeks.

Due AF today and a bit confused. Had mild cramps on Tuesday and figured that AF would arrive shortly as normally just get cramps on the day of AF. They were really bad yesterday(9DPO) and had to go to bed early last night as a result. Still no af though and no cramps this morning plus my temps went really high this morning . They haven't been that high since I was pregnant. Did a test though and BFN so not holding out much hope. Just feel like my body is playing tricks on me!!

Anyway, here's hoping that 2008 brings us lots more sticky BFP'S!!!

I didn't get a chance to log in last night. thanks girls for joining.

Realtin you're right, it is amazing how many there are. one thing that struck me afterwards was that just because you didn't hear much about it doesn't mean it doesn't happen. I have only told a couple of people outside family and close friends and from what I've heard it is more common then you think.

baby peanut, First off, I saw your BFP post so let me say CONGRADULATIONS. :o)ll I really wish you a safe and healthly pregnancy and hope its the first of many BFPs for the girls here. regarding feeling guiltu over wanting to get pregnant, I can definitely relate. From the day the doctor told us miscarriage was likely she was talking about our next pregnancy, I didn't want to hear it at the time. Myself and DH talked about it later the same day. I didn't like it at the time. But I think looking forward is what is getting me through this. I still have my bad days, Next week is going to be a bad one because we were supposed to have our first scan on Tuesday. But I know I'll be ok, the worst part is the journey to get there, unfortunately you have to go through it.

Girls, I really am sorry for all your losses, It really is unfortunate that we are back in the position of ttc again. one of the things I have finding very frustrating is not knowing my cycle or when af will arrive. But I know you need patience in abundance , though patience was never my strenght >:o)

Lioness,

My cycle was totally out of whac after my mc so I decided to try accupuncture. The following month I was back on track and feel much better.

Apparantly it also improves the quality of your eggs so decreases the chances of another miscarriage.

Lioness I know what you mean about the uncertainty over AF and cycle - I was 28 days almost to the hour!!! So I am hoping that it will be as regular when AF comes back again - I am actually looking forward to getting AF - its not often you will hear us saying that! But at least then we can start TTCing in earnest!! DH & I have decided to try again as soon as possible - my Mam is a bit concerned as my body really did go through a big trauma as there was so much blood loss but please God that won't happen again - I think all we can do is accept that our babies weren't for this world the last time round and stay positive that the next one will be - just look at Baby Peanut (Massive CONGRATS by the way hope ou have a happy and healthy pregnancy). So lets all send POSITIVE VIBES to each other and loads of :babydust:

Hi Girls,
Sorry to all of you for your losses, it is a hard experience. I am working in a maternity hospital and I would definately recommend that you wait at least one month before trying again. Make sure you have a normal period before trying again so you will be sure of your dates next time round. On a positive note, the majority of the women I have met in the labour ward have all had miscarriages first time round and then go onto to have a normal pregnancy. Dont give up hope girls and allow yourselves time to get over it, xx. :lvs
