Hi all,

Just spent my first month charting and i have a couple of questions for you experts. I wasnt very good at taking temps for the first couple of weeks as wasnt totally sure what i had to do.

I just bought a bbt which should be more accurate for this month also i am going to try to test at the same time every morn without moving etc before getting out of bed.

My question is this FF has predicted ovulation but i have a bad feeling i didnt ovulate - dont know why but would the two temp dips indicate this? I was hoping last week that it was an implantation dip :o(

http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/32bf1f

Also is it more important to take temp at the same time every day or after the longest sleep?

Also also how common is it to predict a surge but not ovulate?

Also also also is 10 days too short of a luteal phase?

Sorry for all the questions still getting my head round everything including nasty old AF :o(

Hi there
I used to post on this thread under a different name, but can't remember the login.

You seem to have mostly open circles, so if you are taking temp at different times each day your chart is likely to look very rocky. If you have changed the time you are taking your temp it's probably as well to change the default time so that you won't have the open circles as it makes it harder to read.

Also if you are taking your temp orally it can be affected by if you had your mouth open etc. I would highly recommend switching to vaginal from here on out, you get used to it very quickly and it is a lot more reliable, you could do that now without having a big affect on your chart, in fact you could erase the couple of temps you already have to make sure it didn't have any impact, it doesn't matter if you don't temp for the first few days of your cycle once you start by cd5.

To be honest one chart is not really enough to reliably say if you ovulate anyway. You should not get stressed out by your first chart at all as it can only really be counted for learning about the basics of charting. I know it's really easy for someone who has been ttc for a couple years now to say not to stress over one chart and not try to read a chart before it's finished and all that, but from personal experience charting is most useful over a period of several months, so just try and relax about the charting and don't let it take over your life. Very best of luck with it and feel free to ask as many questions as you like :babydust:

Hi bumpfor2011, thanks for the reply, i am enjoying using fertility friend but you are right it can soon take over your life. Im still finding the waking time very difficult because the more im thinking of it the earlier i am waking up. Hopefully my mind will settle down!

Hiya,

Was wondering if you can take a look at my charts, my luteal phase seems to vary by a great deal, I have read it is only supposed to vary by 1/2days!!

I wouldn't be overly worried at the moment. The variance seems to be that your LP is extending rather than fluctuating wildly. Did you come off the pill a few months ago by any chance?

It can take 6 months to a year for some people to have their hormones fully normalise. I have seen a few people who came off teh pill whose lp was a bit short at first off the pill and then if they didn't get a BFP before it became evident it just lengthened out. I would take it as a good sign so.

Hi I've been off the pill for a year now and ttc for the past 7 months. I've just started temping this month and was wondering if someone could look at my chart and tell me what they think. I've had a plateau of 3 temps for 6,7 and 8 dpo which is what I'm at today.

Would appreciate any feedback you can provide me.

Thanks so much.

Good Morning,

I havent posted here before so I hope its ok....you see I'm not actively TTC at the moment - I was on strong meds for arthritis and I have to be off them for 6 months before we TTC. I have a 2 year old son.

I am charting so that I have some sort of history and backup so when the time comes I will have the info and will be able to "predict" (if possible!) my most fertile phase.

Anyway, sorry this is so longwinded... I cant access FF on this PC so I am going to be old fashioned and paste in my temps below. I am hoping someone will be able to agree/disagree with me that I OV on CD17?

CD1 NO temp taken
CD2 36.40
CD3 36.10
CD4 36.10
CD5 35.60
CD6 36.30
CD7 36.10
CD8 36.00
CD9 35.90
CD10 35.70
CD11 35.90
CD12 36.10
CD13 missed reading
CD14 35.90
CD15 36.10
CD16 36.20
CD17 36.10
CD18 36.50
CD19 36.50
CD20 missed reading
CD21 36.50
CD22 36.40
CD23 36.30
CD24 35.90 (tossed and turned all night)
CD25 36.50
CD26 36.60
CD27 36.20
CD28 36.10
CD29/CD1 36.00

Thank in advance!

Hi. I've started to keep my temps. Last month (my first mth recording) gave me a chart that I thought looked ok! This month I'm not so sure. My cycle is pretty regular (haven't been on the pill in years due to migraine) but this month when I went to do my OPK I didn't get a positive (think I missed the time, tested in the evening on the predicted day and days around that time and have a feeling urine was too diluted). Also I'm concerned that on my 2nd day after ov my temp drops way down. I know I've only temped for 2 mths so am new to all this - any help or advice would be fantastic!

ok posted a new topic but didn't get any responses, hoping I might get some ideas here from you in the know about charts. bubs2011 I saw your chart, congrats, it was good news!

I am going up the walls...my cycle has been about 33/34 days for the last few months with OV around day 26. FF changed my OV date 4 times this month, with the most recent change being to 3 days ago which is ridiculous, I definitely did not ov 3 days ago.....I am now officially late and did a hpt this morning, but the result came up invalid?? I am here in work wondering how I feel, do I feel PG, do I not....my temps are much higher than normal...dare I think it?

Any insight at all would be most appreciated. DH is getting me a test so I can do it tomorrow morning, just wondering what you think, is it just in my head now... Thanks in advance ladies

Newmom, your chart is quite hard to read. Those open circles seem to come at a bad time, it's hard to know whether your temp would have been quite as high if you had temped at the same time those days and that would affect the chart a fair bit, I'm assuming they are weekend with a bit of a lie in temps?

A couple of questions seeing as the chart is a bit hard to read. Are you temping straight away on waking at the same time each day? When I was temping I actually found it helped to set the alarm for an hour before I usually got up and temp then then go back to sleep, I sometimes wake up a bit before the alarm goes off as I worry it won't, so this meant I wasn't having disturbed sleep beforehand. The other thing is are you temping orally? Would you consider temping vaginally if so, it is no less hygienic as you wash the thermometer every day anyway, or you can get those covers and it gives a much more stable reading as you don't get strange results because you slept with your mouth open.

Other than that all I can say is, get another test just in case since that one didn't work. Did you do midstream? I find it much easier to pee in a cup and dip, the first test I did this cycle I thought I had missed or messed it up and it hadn't worked, so after that I did it in a cup and dipped and it was way less stressful. Beyond that, just keep on temping and waiting for another while and see what happens.

thanks for the response Bump2011! Yes those funny were times were about a half hour to an hour later than usual. I usually reach for the thermometer immediately after waking. I have taken the temps orally, do I have to get a specific thermometer for vaginal readings?

You are right, I did not get mid stream this morning, I will try the cup thing in the morning. I hope I am not being overly optimistic, I just can't help but feel like I might be. I have been so irritable today I nearly just took the head off DH for asking questions about my FF chart!!??

Thanks for looking, I will keep you posted xxx
