Thread for TTCers with Long Cycles

hi ladies
hope any of you can help? i am another long cycle wollie....

Im on cycle 8 and have long cycles since coming off the pill in Feb last year -longest 57 and on average 41-42 days. I have just started fertility reflexology as a friend does it and recommended it to help regulate this. I have only had 2 sessions so far so early days but its quite expensive at 80 quid a mth and I would rather spend this on accupucture if this works better as i see that some of you are having success with this and I dont hear much about reflex on here? desperate to try and reduce my cycle length to give us more opportunities to conceive :o(
thanks for any comments O:o)

Hi worriedmarried,

I tried reflexology first but have moved onto acupuncture now. I have had no success on either yet but still on early days with the acupuncture. I had about 5 sessions of reflexology, started it in or around cd90 and 5 weeks later still no period so i switched to the acupuncture then. I have had 3 sessions so far but still no luck. My acupuncturist wants me to go to a homeopath that he has recommended now to get a remedy to see if she can bring on a period for me. He wants me to go to her this week and then back to him next week. I am on cd 159 now!!!!!!

Anyways, to try to answer your question. I found reflexology very relaxing etc but it just didn't bring on a period for me but then again neither has Agnus Castus that most people swear by on this forum so maybe nothing is going to work for me. Since my acupuncture session last week i feel like there is something happening, as in i think i have some signs of ovulation pending but i've thought that in other stages of this very long cycle also so i'm not getting too excited. If it does happen in the next few days i will know as i'm temping and i would definately put that down to the acupuncture so i will keep you posted!!! Hope this is of some help to you!

oh bless you mar09- there was me thinking mine was long and you are on 159! :innocent: you poor thing- my head is melted but cant imagine how frustrated you must be waiting that long.
it sounds to me like you are doing all the right things to bring it on so i really hope it happens for you, perhaps differnt things work for different wollies depending on your body etc..... i love reflex - soooo relaxing but again i cant feel anything happening with it and would rather use the money for accu if more chance of that working...guess its all trial and error but so frustrating when you just want a normal cycle and the best poss chance of conceiving :action34

wishing you all the best hun and lets hope we have our BFP one day soon :wv

Hi girls,

worriedmarried - i hope you're right!!! If i were you i think i would start the acu instead. It just seems to have had more success than the reflexology or at least there's a lot more threads and discussions on it than the reflexology.

merrykitty - GP referred me to a fertility clinic last November and even though i am going private my app took 6 weeks to arrive after being referred and the app date is for the end of Feb so hopefully i will get some answers then one way or the other. I suspect pcos myself, have all the symptoms apart from the weight problem.

verynbprincess, so you know exactly how frustrating these really long cycles are. This is my 4th cycle in 12 months, 91 days, 56 days, 81 days and now this one!!!

Hopefully, we'll all get sorted real soon!

:o)ll :o)ll :o)ll congrats Romobo delighted to see another BFP :o)ll :o)ll There will be a nice gap between your little ones.z

Well I am absolutely baffled started opks (the clearblue digital ones) at 18 dpo and continued until I eventually got a positive one at cd30 last Sunday and I was delighted however my Af arrived last Friday exactly 5days after positive opk. (I didn't even get time to pimp symptoms :o( :o( ) don't know what to think was opk wrong? (that scenario I would prefer to that of 5day luteal phase) typical me just when I was relaxed and felt I knew the workings of my odd cycle it throws another curve ball. :o( going to try another cycle then probably head to doc and discuss my options as I was on clomid when I conceived my DD I was hoping I wouldn't need it again.

Princess Mom I would say the opk was wrong. Do you have PCOS? Sometimes people with PCOS can have false positive opks. Or you wouldn't know what sort of hormonal surge it was picking up on. One time I also had a false positive a week before AF. That cycle I was doing clomid and follicle tracking and I didn't get a positive opk until a week after the fertility clinic thought I should have ovulated. I then got AF a week after that so I'm not quite sure what exactly it was picking up but it wasn't ovulation.

hi ladies

been quiet on here lately- hope you are all ok on this very frustrating journey....
well im on cycle 7 waiting for cycle 8 to begin and 48 days in ( 6 days over my last 3 cycle lengths and 6 days overdue on AF and defo not pg :( ) nearly a year off the pill now!

have been doing reflex but this dosent seem to have made any diff and just started on AC so now going to try accupuncture- have any of you found this successful in shortening your cycle length at all? also do you go to fertility or just normal one? i have a few chinese centres near me but not sure if they specialise in fertility - does it matter I wonder?

Thanks very much for your help!

Hi worriedmarried, you're right it is very quiet on here these days. AC didn't work for me so after 3 months i stopped taking it again but there has been lots of discussions here about it and it definitely has worked for some people so give it a shot anyways. I did reflexology and Acu aswell. It's been 3 weeks since my last acu session but low and behold my period arrived last Thursday completely out of the blue! I had given up expecting it after 6 months with no show!!!!!!! Anyways delighted that it came eventually but i'm not sure if it was a proper period after ovulation or an anovulatory cycle as i'd stopped temping 2 weeks ago.Have our first app with fertility clinic tomorrow so hopefully that will go well and cons will be able to shed some light on my extremely long cycles! Hope the ac and acu work for you!

Positive2012 - any sign of your period yet?
