Sorry Avril only seeing this now, I thought after we had Ava that id never go again, I was traumatised over the whole thing, to see your lo fighting for his/her life is something i thought id never go through again but now i want a sibling for her :-8 he doesn't want to go ahead again but im hoping ill get around him! They say if you are going to have another IUGR or premature baby it usually happens a week or two earlier (if its going to happen at all) so that wouldn't be good for my next baby!

Was it your consultant who said that?

I was having scans from 27 weeks as the fundal height had stopped increasing - it never did increase after that and there was no real growth at all afterwards (some scans showed increases, some decreases, but it was just random measurement differences, the line was flat, and she went from being a very big baby to very small, crossing all the lines on the chart). It was at 31 weeks that IUGR and olighydramnios was diagnosed, but DD always seemed to be doing well in terms of CTG and the blood flow etc.

My DH would love to have another baby. I won't consider it until I have weaned myself off antidepressants. But I daydream about somehow not telling them what happened with DD and just hoping for a normal pregnancy, with none of the angst and being hooked up to CTG machines every other day. I know the reality is that I would be responsible and have all the checks and take my aspirin and anything else suggested, but I do feel conflicted about it.

It wasnt a consultant who said it, it was either a midwife or baby nurse from when Ava was in ICU who said it when we were having a general conversation, like if you had a 31 week preemie and IF you were going to have another preemie (and its only an if) then they tend to come at 30 weeks next time. What weight was you babs when she was born?

In a way that is a relief to me, as I would then take it with a grain of salt! I was told a few very strange things by the SCBU nurses. But it might be worth asking your consultant the question, I will ask about it at DD's next paed appointment.

My dd was 4lbs4, and was doing fine until she developed severe hypoglycaemia, it took a few days for her blood sugars to stabilise again, but in no way compares to what you went through. I am feeling less worried about her development now, as she is saying dada and I've realised she understands a lot of words, even though she doesn't use them.

I think Ava has come on leaps and bounds the last couple of weeks too, she's nearly sitting by herself (can manage about 10/15 secs) and is walking around if you hold her hands which I think is great! She'll be the type of baby to not crawl and go straight to walking I think. Your little one was really small. Have you had any more thoughts on ttc'ing?

That's brilliant :o)ll :o)ll :o)ll :o)ll :o)ll Go on Ava!

My DD was around that age when she started commando crawling, totally out of the blue. I never thought she'd do it, she had shown no signs at all, but I put her down on the floor in the hall one day, and off she went! You never know what they'll do next!

ttcing is out of the question for a couple of years, at least, but I think we will try then.
