Frozen embryo transfers ?

Frozen embryo transfers ?

Postby lookin4help2010 » Tue Aug 10, 2022 2:36 pm

Hi all.
just over on ivf thread and we decided as a few of us have fortunatly got frozen embryos it may be valuable to have a seperate thread for
*people who have had it to give advise ( pretty please)
*those currently going through it to refer to it
*and those going to be going threw it to have somewhere to ask about it.

i know there are girls on the P&B thread who regularly drop in on the ivf thread who have had sucess with FET'S so hoping to get your input and please those with failed FET's come visit too.

i myself am going for one soon.
i just started on the pill and altough i am an ivf expert it is slightly different and i have no idea when to book flights (treatment abroad and want a weeks hol if possible) or book scans (locally where i reside).

hopeing this takes off and helps some of us lucky enough to have had spare babies to freeze. xxx

Hi Lookin4help,how are you hun?
Great idea to start up a thread for fet's
I'm on week 2 of sniffer,in for downreg scan and bloods on Monday and I presume all going okay I will be starting on tabs..I think you stay on them for roughly 2 weeks and once lining looks good can go ahead with transfer,my big worry is that we only have one blast so really hoping it thaws out..
What stage are you at? I'm sure all clinics do it different?
Wonder if Lucky09 or djdee are around, they have both got their bfp's on fet..would be good to hear some info from them.
Chat soonxx

Hi girls, FET thread is a great idea. I dont really post too often. I done 2 fresh cycles but got my BFP on my FET. After having the 2 BFN's after my fresh cycles i wasnt very positive about the FET working. I actually said to the nurse that if the fresh cycles didnt work why would a frozen !! She said you would be suprised how many women get their BFP on a FET :) I found the FET a lot easier & less stressful.
I had to start taking Progynova tablets on day 2 of my cycle, Day 12 had scan & bloods, Day 18 had my transfere. started the gel 2 days before transfere. 2 blasts were thawed the night before transfere.
The worst part of it all was the dreaded 2ww. Now i think other clinics do it differently but thats my experience. Thank god we were successful & im now 17wks :) Ive 3 more snowbabies so please god some day i'll get to use them..

Mrsc06, how u keeping :wv x

Great idea for a thread gals :o)ll :o)ll :o)ll

My situation is we hit the jackpot on IVF No 1 and got our lil miracle ds, i thank the big man up above every day :lvs

During my cycle i overstimulated v badly and ended up with severe OHSS and a stint in ICU in Rotunda but the positive out of all that is that we have 3 snowbabies waiting on us. We've booked our review in HARI for sept 1st to discuss it all and will then decide when to go ahead. Now thats all providing our snowbubs survive the thaw, am terrifed they wont but time will tell.

I look forward to chatting to ye all here.... sending all of us :babydust: :babydust: :babydust: :babydust:

Hi Lucky09 :wv Omg 17 weeks already, were does the time go,so happy for you hun :) .How are you doing? I'm finding it hard to be positive about this after 2 failed fresh cycles aswell but you never know, maybe I'll follow in your footsteps :)
Hi everhopeful, great that you're thinking about going again, hopefully you'll be like djdee and get your bfp again,I'd be very positive If I were you,you have a ds to prove that all this is soo worth it :) .That's awful that you ended up in icu but you shoule be fine this time as there's no injections involved,I'm finding this cycle so much easier.
2010please you're mad :o0 :o0 ,go away from here for a couple of years as I just know it has worked out for you and they're waiting for you over on pregnancy and babies :compress :compress

Hi Girls,
Im posting on here abit early as i havent even had this baby yet :o0 :o0
My story is i was lucky enough to get my BFP 1st time with ICSI and am now 19 weeks pregnant :) . I was originally pregnant with twins but unfortionatly lost one but this baby is doing great and yesterday i found out im having a little girl :compress .
I have two snowbabies waiting for me (they were frozen on day 3). This baby is due 3rd January so im hoping to go again maybe October/November next year. Only having 2 that havent even got to blast yet im terrified they wont survive.
With FET do they bring them to blast or leave them at day 3? My two snowbabies are a 7 + 8 cell.
My worry is with only having two and having to pay 1000 per year to keep them frozen maybe im better doing another fresh cycle and thawing these also.

2010please sounds like you already have your BFP :compress , biggest congrats :o)ll

Great thread - thanks L4H for setting it up... with us, we have done two fresh cycles - both BFN and have 2 snowbabies waiting for us.. I start the sniffer next week and then baseline scan on Sept 6th... tablets from there to build up the lining of my womb and hope that our two snowbabies survive thawing...
It's great to see that it has worked for others... I was starting to think that if the two fresh cycles hadn't worked, then why would a frozen cycle... but I am all positive again...
TTC since March 2007
Oct 08 to Oct 09 - Clomid and OI - all BFN
Jan 09 - Lap & Dye - all clear
IVF Cycle 1 - Antagonist Protocol - Jan 2010 - BFN
IVF Cycle 2 (with ICSI) - June 2010 - Long Protocol - BFN
Changed clinics in Sept 2010
FET - Oct/Nov (hopefully) 2010

I was the one who set up the Snowbabies/Frozen Embryo Transfer thread so i think this is a great idea. Alot of us will be looking for this kind of info.

My story is, we got lucky on our first ICSI and I am now 16 weeks pregnant. We have 4 Snowbabies in Sims (I dont know how many cells they are). I would love to know how successful FET is, as the cost of keeping the embryos in the Clinic is so huge. Like, even if we went for an FET in 18-24 months, we would still ahve 2 Snowbabies in the Clinic for another few years. It's hard to know what is the right thing to do.

Lookin4help2010 what a great idea for a thread !....
My story so far, IVF 1 (October 2009) we had 6 embryos but we didnt get any blast so no transfer which was heartbreaking!
IVF 2 was in March and we had 5 embryo so 2 Embryo transfer on day 3 and BFN :o( !

So now preparing for FET in sept we have 3 snowbabies, I think they are 7,6 & 5 cells ....Like most of you I am not too optimistic and keep thinking sure if it didnt work with the "best" embryo on the fresh cycle why would this one work now !!!! Anyway hard to keep positive sometimes ....

It's good to hear happy ending stories tho !!!

Amesie You must be one week ahead of me - starting nasal spray in a week or two and 1st scan on Sept 13th !!

:wv to you all gals !

Hi L4H,

Great idea doing this thread. I PM'd you the other day, I hope you found the info useful.

I am now into the 2nd week of my TWW from FET and praying to god it works. I have heard a few people say that you can get good results from FET as they only pick the best quality embryos to freeze so they are all strong little fighters when they thaw and ready for action!
I do think you are also better prepared for FET and your body is in better condition for it which can only work in your favour.

Hi Starsun,
Congrats on your pregnancy!! I would say you are over the moon and a little girl awaiting arrival, that is so cute!
My snowbabies were on day 3 (7 cell and 8 cell) both survived the thaw! I still have 2 more snowbabies waiting for a 9 month stint in me!! They didn't go to blast and that option was never mentioned to me. What they did do was assisted hatching on both embryos and they said that this is procedure for all day 3 FET. Personally I would go with FET next time round, you never know it could work. The cost is less compared to doing a fresh cycle and its less draining on you too. They are there waiting for you so why not use them! :)
