I am sorted - €70 lighter and with a bit of a boring dress that I'll need to jazz up but sorted all the same!!

How about any of these?

For the record I think the dress you have is beautiful and if you are comfortable in it then I'd go for it. That may seem like me contradicting myself but half the people at this wedding hate me already (long story with an ex boyfriend!) so I'm not giving them any more ammunition - hence my last minute panic buy :o0

I would stick with your original choice newlywed2011- as I mentioned in your other thread on OF, two guests at our wedding wore very similar style and colour dresses to that one and they looked great. One was even shorter than your one and had an even larger opening at the back but the girl has an amazing figure and could carry it off. As a bride it didn't bother me in the slightest- as someone else said, unless you turn up wearing an actual wedding dress there's no way you're going to 'upstage' the bride!! Save yourself the hassle and wear it- it's a lovely dress O:o)

It's a lovely dress, but I think missymoomoo has a point - I've been at a few weddings where a guest wore a white dress and there's always a bit of sniggering and "what was she thinking?" from other guests. It's nonsense, of course, and I don't think the bride would be bothered in the slightest, but if it were me I wouldn't be comfortable knowing that that might be the reaction from others.

The other dresses posted above are gorgeous.

She can obviously wear whatever she wants, but i'm just saying "in my opinion" i wouldn't want anyone thinking i'd worn a white/silver dress to spite the bride, coz that's what some people would be thinking!

no you're not. you're saying people at the wedding will think she's a b'itch.

they will, sorry, but, they will!!!

some pathetic people might. women who have nothing better to be doing than looking around at a wedding and judging other women. i wouldnt mind, but its a short silver[i] dress. hardly cause for damnation from the masses.

i didnt say it doesnt go on. i said its pathetic carry on, and she shouldnt let it bother her so much that she's out €100 on a dress and looking for an entirely new outfit. thats madness to me.

just to check, for those of you who said that you wouldnt wear any pale colours to a wedding for fear of offending whoever it is that gets offended by pale clothing. do you count yourself in that group?

how many of you would be the ones snickering at the poor soul who wore the wrong thing?

or which of you would feel that your wedding day was tainted by something a guest wore?

im really interested to find out how many of these people actually exist!

i couldnt even tell you if anyone DID wear white/cream/silver/beige/whatever other pastel shade falls into this offensive category, to mine.

i actually cant stand this small mindedness, and id think much less of the person that tried to bi'tch to me about what another guest at a wedding was wearing than i would of the person wearing it.

I wouldn't and didn't care - SK there are photos on my FB of my wedding and you'll see the two friends I'm on about, and it didn't faze me. One very similar to mine.

It's a dress - it's not like you are turning up in a veil and carrying a bouquet instead of a clutch bag!

And for the people that it would annoy - remove the stick already

It wouldn't annoy me if someone wore white/cream to my wedding but I did once balk at an outfit I saw a girl wearing at a wedding last year. She was wearing a big white puffball dress that came to just below the knee, so kind of looked like one of those 50s style wedding dresses and then she had a mini top hat fascinator with a birdcage veil coming off it. Apart from it being VILE, it was so attention seeking and in really poor taste.

Just for my own personal reasons, I wouldn't wear white or a really pale colour to a wedding, as I said before, in case there was a risk of offending anyone. Our parents' generation think it's a big faux pas so wouldn't want any of them looking at me sideways. And I love wearing bright colours anyway so I'll always pick something brighter.

That's an OUTRAGEOUS thing to say. Maybe that's the way YOU think, but it's certainly not the way most sane people would. Are you for real? You would actually think someone was a b!tch for wearing a light coloured dress? Fair enough if you don't think it's proper protocol or whatever, but to actually go as far as to call her that? Wow.

Bloody ridiculous. It's a gorgeous dress, it's not remotely bridal. As I said on your other thread OP get yourself a gorgeous pair of bright coloured shoes (hot pink would look fantastic) and some accessories.

FFS some people sicken me, you'd swear she was planning on following the bride up the aisle....
