I've just started looking into hotels for our wedding reception and would be very intrested to hear what deals and bargains all you wollies have managed to get from your hotels and also any tips on which items to haggle on ie. corkage, evening buffet etc.

Hi MrsG2b.
Ok so from start of day to finish, this is what our packahe includes €55pp
sparkling wine reception (champers for bridal party)
Expresso soups/mini cones (either depending on weather)
Tea/Coffee
Homemade Cookies

wine throughout the meal (2.5 glasses pp)
choice of starter (we've picked both off a la carte)
choice of main (we've picked off a la carte)
Dessert
Tea/Coffee/Mints

Afters food (sand,saus,chix goujons)

Covers on all chairs
Bar extension
complimentary accom for me and H2B for 2 nights
Complimentary accom for night of wedding for both sets of parents.

Think thats it...i asked straight out for stuff, rooms etc, sparkling wine intead of mulled wine, chix goujons in afters food along with other stuff!!

All they can say is no >:o)

So far :) we've got

Red carpet arrival, champagne and strawberries for B & G
Complimentary tea, coffe, punch reception for guests
5 Course meal with choice menu
Wedding menu tasting
2 glasses of wine with dinner per guest
Evening finger food
Chair covers
Centerpieces
Pre wedding relaxation package for B and CM :lvs
Acommadation Bridal suite and 2 other rooms

That was 55 per head but cos we booked thru the wedding fair we got a 10% discount....happy days :thnk

this is what our packahe includes €55pp

canaoes/ sandwiches

Afters food then food again in the residents bar

Covers on all chairs
Bar extension
complimentary accom for me and H2B for 2 nights
Complimentary accom for night of wedding for both sets of parents
Upgrade for 2 rooms aswell giving this to best man and my brother is giving me away.

Few other bits thrown in too

Our package is 42.50pp, it in November so its off peak, and this is the package...
Fireside arrivals reception
Tea/coffee/biscuits
Prosecco
Hot/cold canapes
Live Music

Six course meal
Starter, soup, sorbet, choice of main, dessert, tea/coffee.after dinner chocolates

3 glasses wine pp

Toast drink

Evening buffet

Chair covers/sashes

Late bar

Food in residents bar

1st anniversary dinner

Bridal suite for 2 nights

Parents rooms for wedding night

Complimentary party the night after the wedding

Vouchers for various suppliers

Plus they gave away our preferred date by accident so I pushed them for OH to stay the night before the wedding, and a room for the best man and MOH, AND my Nana on wedding night.

I am also going to ask them for complimentary drinks during the dinner for the teetotallers, I think its only fair.

Mine is 48.50 per head. We are getting married in August.
we are getting

Red carpet arrival, champagne for bride and groom
Complimentary tea, coffee for guests
5 Course meal with choice menu free
Wedding menu tasting
Sausage and sandwich buffet.
Candleabra and mirrored plate Centerpieces
Acommadation Bridal suite and 2 other rooms for parents.

Going for my menu tasting in March, first time back at the hotel as we live in UK. Think I need to see if they will offer any more.

Do hotels do this?

From start to finish, here's ours. Wedding is a Thursday. €45 per head.

Champagne on arrival for bridal party with chocolate strawberries
Tea/coffee, sandwiches and biscuits for all guests. Ferrero Rocher too, but we're providing this!

Five course meal, choice on the main course.
Half a bottle of wine per person
Soft drinks from the bar for anyone who doesn't drink wine

Tea/coffee, sausages, sandwiches, vegetable spring rolls for the evening

Sandwiches for the residents' bar

Two parents rooms, complimentary
Bridal suite for two nights, complimentary

Menu tasting for four people

Chair covers

Bar extension

Centrepieces

Cake stand and cake knife

Red carpet

Private pre-reception room with private bar

Use of roof terrace for photographs

Room rate of €75 for a double room, holding two adults, including breakfast.

I think that's it!

I have never been to Galway and always wanted to go - the hotel looks gorgeous....might convince H2B to take me away. Congrats on a fab deal!!! Love the idea of munchies in the residents bar!!

5 course meal (chicken ceaser salad or veg option, veg soup, beef or salmon and undecided desert & tea/coffee)
Evening food (goujons, sandwiches and sausages)
Food for residents bar

1/2 bottle wine per person

Late bar extension

Chair covers & sash
Floral arrangements on every table

They'll set up our candy buffet too
Bridal suite

I know it's more pricey than others, but it's where we fell in love with so c'est la vie!

Room rate (€140) is very very pricey though. But it's local enough for family that they can get taxis back and we're providing a list for B&Bs for others travelling from further away. Also giving a voucher for bridal party to go towards their room.
