Hi everyone, I'm not from Donegal but my fiance is, and we've spent lots of time there over the years and would love to get married there. The only thing is, I'd really like to do something a bit different, or find a venue that has really nice scenery, as lots of my family will be travelling from abroad and will not have been to donegal (or even ireland!) before. I looked into a marquee but it seems to add another 5k to the cost by the time you add in the marquee hire, generator, caterers, loos etc. Has anyone ever heard of a hall or function centre etc that is in a picturesque spot, or have any ideas for venues that are just a bit different?

Thanks!

Have you checked out the blue haven hotel in Kilcar, while the hotel itself isnt very unique, the sceanery around it is magnificant!!! Dont be put off either by the lack of accomodation in the hotel, plenty of places to stay nearby!!

Solis Lough Eske is fantastic also, Harveys Point, Sand House Hotel in Rossnowlagh, Great Northern in Bundoran, and of course I love my own venue Lake House Hotel in Portnoo. Some of the other girls might be able to help you with hotels in north Donegal, im based in the South!

Thanks so much Grogmg that's really helpful. Did you have your wedding at the Lake House with a marquee adjoined? Do you have any tips or comments on your venue?
Thanks again.

Forgot to add The clock tower in Killybegs.

My wedding is this October, not having the marquee as was happy enough with the fuction room, but I was at a wedding fair where they had the marquee set up and it was put on to the side of the hotel perfectly and you wouldnt really notice that you were walking from inside to a marquee - no change in temp or anything and theye was a bit of a wind going that day as there does be in donegal and you wouldnt notice at all. Wither or not you can have the marquee up will often depend on when you want your wedding, I know htey would prefare not to have the marquee up in the winter - between Novemember and January. But it all depends on the weather.

My advice is drop them an email or give them a call, no harm in seeing what they will say!!

Hi All,

Do any of you know of any bus hire places in Donegal town? Not sure what size we need yet as still waiting on RSVPs - invites just sent. Just want it take guests from hotel to church and back. Possibly need it again that night but not sure on that yet

Suggestions for suppliers with websites that can give me a quote / work late hours on phones would be great because work is mental and won't be able to make daytime calls :action34

Thanks!

Dont know any from Donegal town, but I do know there is some there, you could also try Liam Conneelly from Killybegs or Currans from Carrick/Kilcar - all would be more than happy to help you out. If you use the goldenpages you could search for coach hire in donegal town!!

Although depending on where your guests are from alot of them may be happy enough making their own way to and from the hotel. Did you mention in your invites that you would be providing a bus for them?

Hi Fellow Doengal brides.

To cut a long story short. I have already booked a Videographer for our day in May 2013.
But I have just recently found out that a recent bride has had nothing but trouble from the same person and is so disappointed with the quality of the Dvd.
Needless to say my confidence in this person has just plummeted so I think we are going to have to cut our losses and try our best to find someone new.
Not sure how hard that is going to be as its a BH weekend....fingers crossed.
Thats were I need your help. Can anyone recommend thier videographer please?
I'm in the South Doengal area. We are just looking for someone that can do a good quality Dvd and edit it in the right way as to look professional and interesting.
We really want to keep the budget below E1000 as we are more than likely going to lose the deposit.

Please Please help, cant believe I'm back to this. Thought we had it all sorted months ago. O:|

Well, 5 months to go and closing. 5 months and a week! scary close now.

I am heading over to Scot;land later today to collect all the dresses and get the wine for the toasts. Also to pick a dress for the baby who is 2.

Still not done much more, not got invitations sorted yet or anything. Really must get the finger out!

Saving money like mad though and hopefully will have everything paid off by July.

How is everyone else getting on?

@ French Toast - not sure who you had, but I would highly recommend my videographer James Carr, he is from Kilcar, very reasonable, very easy to work with and his work is brilliant!

sad news about the inn,my h2b sis was due to get married there in 8wks she has to go on the hunt for a new venue at the tassie isnt available and the watersedge isnt big enough,i'd say at this stage she had enough on her plate without this all happening, she had her invites already done up and has to go change that all now
hope no-one else has been effected by it :( we where going to look at the inn but because we have had so many weddings there lately we went for some where else instead
