Turns out I got his weight wrong, he was actually 7lbs12 to her 6lbs3, he's a verysturdy wee lad, but she's no lightweight either, they are both very strong indeed. To be honest the end of the pregnancy is a distant memory, but seems like it was a walk in the park compared to trying to establish breastfeeding after the section, which in itself will hopefully seem like a distant memory in a few days once my milk is in, which should hopefully be today by the feel of things.
TTC 2.5 years.
DH - Azoospermia so using donor sperm with IVF

8 eggs, 7 fertilized, transfer 16th April all going well.
Actually 8 eggs fertilized in the end, the last one was pretty late though. 2 Morulas (compacting embryos) transferred 16th April. BFP!

Congrats bumpfor2011! Fab weights too!
Listen, just to say re the breastfeeding, stick with it over these few days! I type this as I sit here with both (11 wks old today) latched on propped up on the twin e z feed pillow (godsend!). It's sooooo handy not to mention the other benefits! I honestly dont know how ppl bottle feed twins now - hats off to them! i admire them, i really dont know how tgey do it! Since about two weeks I give a formula feed at 11pm and always need a second pair of hands! On two occassions my hubbie wasn't here and I had two screaming babies, in car seats tilted back n between me sitting on floor with a bottle n each mouth.... Dont even get me started on winding them!!! Or the hassles n making up bottles for that one feed, or going anywhere overnight with twins + steriliser + formula +++++

So listen, if ya can, stick with it these days n it will make life much easier over coming months!!!

Huge congrats Bump and well done for carrying them so long, they were great weights too. I hope the breastfeeding gets easier - is your problem with your supply or positioning? If it's your supply once your milk is in things should get easier. I found though my nipples got very sore (more sorer than on DD) probably because they never got a break with 2 babies so I got a pair of nipple shields which I found great until the nipples healed. Good luck with it and enjoy the newborn cuddles, it really does fly, I can't believe mine are 10 weeks now :eek

Elizajane - Re the EZ to nurse cushion, I never bought one but now I'm thinking maybe I should have? I'm still breastfeeding mine about 3 feeds a day and they get formula for the other feeds but I completely agree with you, it is much easier to feed both yourself than trying to feed them both simultaneously with bottles and then you never have a free hand to wind a baby. What I find though is that mine are just never satisfied - I would get 1.5 to 2 hours max before they want to be fed again whereas with formula I get 3-3.5 hours between feeds but definitely breastfeeding both is easier than trying to do 2 bottles.

Hey lala land
I have to say I find the cushion fantastic, it's at exactly the height so Thst when you put the babs on both ur hands are free, your back is completely supported and n no sore shoulders. My girls were 2-3 wks old when I got mine, i didn't want to order one before only to find that bf-ing didn't work out, and it's been a lifeline. Also if there's ppl over I can sit chatting n the sitting room with them with the shield up- it's perfect. I bring it everywhere with me, everywhere I went over the Xmas like visiting family and the likes I always had the cushion with me.

I'd say if you plan on feeding for a few months then I'll Defo get the use outta - I was sceptical reading the reviews that it really could be that good but I can now safely say I couldn't have done it without the pillow without serious stress!!

Thankfully milk supply is ok - low at night so that's where bottle comes in - have you tried expressing - even for 5/10 mins at the times you give them a bottle and it might help increase supply. I used to express just before going to bed and that seemed to help.

hi all

Looking for a bit of advice - posted this in general forum as a new topic too but mayb someone here could shed some light on situation

Have twin girls - 12 weeks old and doing fantastic! Really are very good babies.
Just looking for advice re day time sleeping - at night they are fantastic sleepers - last night for example they went down after their last feed at 11pm and didnt wake till 7.20am and went back down at 9.20 and slept till 12 noon!
But daytime/evening sleeping is completely hap hazzard! One day this week we walked to the shops so they were out in the buggy for two hours and the slept for every minute of it + about another 45 mins in the buggy when they got home. Yday I strugged to get them to sleep for 2 hours and after that two hours i gave up and brought them into our bed and eventually they slept for just over an hour. They dont sleep in the evenings at all - max is 10-15 mins in their bouncers.
When they're going down for the night they're as good as gold - they go down awake, kiss and cuddle and as a rule are asleep within 10 mins -also when going back to sleep after their middle of night/early morn feed they go straight back to sleep. but when i try to put them down during the day (doing the exact same thing) they scream and scream!
I try my best to look for signs of sleepiness and act immediately and act then - just like the books say!!!!

I suppose im asking - how much should a 3 month old sleep during the day and what interval should be between sleeps/feeds etc! (I'm BF except for the last feed of night where they get formula)
Any stories/help/advice appreciated

Elizajane, I could have written your post myself. My 2 don't sleep for any stretch during the day unless they are in their carseats, when they would easily sleep for 3 or 4 hrs if I let them. They are both good at night - my little boy usually sleeps through from 11-6/7am and my little girl tends to wake more but last night she slept from 11-8 and he woke at 3! - If I could just get them to do it on the same nights - I'd be a happy mammy.

I bought the EZ 2nurse cushion - stupid question but do you wear the cushion around your ribs or your waist - when I put it around my waist (so it sits on my knees I find the babies are too far away and I end up having to prop up the cushion which kind of defeats the purpose....

Hi Lala Land
Thank god i'm not alone there - was going mad last week trying to put them down for naps and they'd just cry and cry and i'd eventually give up and they'd be wide awake smiling at me when i picked them up!
And then i was afraid that if i kept trying to put them down again and again that they'd start refusing to go down at night and they're so good at going down then that i was afraid that i'd mess that up and that they'd start to hate going anywhere near their cot IYKWIM
This week i kinda go with the flow -sometime they nap for 20mins in their bouncers, sometimes half a hour in their cot and sometimes not at all! We're all happier!!

Re the EZ cushion - i put it on my knees and then fasten it. when i use it in bed for night time and morning feeds i have my legs crossed under it and i sit against the headboard (legs criss-crossed and tucked in under cushion if that makes sense) and that gives me the perfect position. On the couch during the daytime feeds it just sits on my knees (and fastened) and once i'm sitting upright position (not slouched) its perfect height for them to feed without having to give it extra support. Babs are in football hold position. i hope that makes some sense - maybe i just have saggy boobs that droop to the babs!!!!

LOL - No I think I'm just realising how much I slouch!

I've noticed over the last few wks if one baby starts mooching, the other starts immediately. It's as if they are competing to get attention? Anyone else find this?

Sweetmum, I have "what to expect when you're expecting" as I saw it recommened on here before we found out about the twins. There is a section in the book for Twins and multiples and it goes through breastfeeding twins etc... I find it very good for info!

We're trying to decide on a monitor at the mo, could anyone recommend any?? Originally wanted the Anglecare sound and movement monitor but it doesn't have an option to come with a seperate mat so don't know what to get!
