Gestational Diabetes, anyone else?

Re: Gestational Diabetes, anyone else?

No we are the same Rosie 5 before food and 7 after, its just my reading after the glucose test was 5.5 and it was now come down by .2. She did say though that I have 2 peaks ahead of me week 28 & 34 apparently the hormones are rapent in these weeks. Will be extra good coming up to them.

What kind of take aways would ye get? I have had a couple of take aways, chinese - singapore noodles (half portion) and chow mein (full portion) both ok and I also had a Subway on wheat bread and that was fine too. I had 6 nuggets from Supermacs and I had a garlic chicken wrap and again was fine after these, I just kept away from sauces and chips.

Best of luck tomorrow :wv

:o)ll :o)ll :o)ll woohoo ladies, iam a happy girlie for another two weeks lol.
Was at the doc today and he seems to think that i am ok with diet for another two week and will see how things go till than, they are still a little high but getting better think it is down to me manageing the diet better as time gose by. Now i dont now if it is down to the fact that it was a different doc today to last week and they may look at thing differently , in two weeks it is back to the main doc i think as it has been three different ones, since i have been told i have gd so will wait and see.
Fx and Tx i was told today that i had keytones +1 now i dont know what that means but she was saying it was down to me not drinking enough so going to try harder at that thought i was drinking enough but have not been has i have been getting headaches thought they were down to just being stressed with the whole thing but it is not so have three one liter bottel now everywhere in the house so i have adrink at hand the whole time.

Rosie thats great that you got on well at your visit yesterday.

About the Keytones, she told me to snack more and drink more. Have a GP app on Mon and they will check my urine so hopefully all will be ok.

On the plus side I had 2 hash browns this morning and my levels were fine :o)ll :o)ll I just really craved them.

rosie84d wrote:Busy bee what were your reading like before each meal were they high or was it just the morning one, mine are high first thing in the moring and than after each meal are grand but the bloods before each meal are high, and than bed time , i had read on line that if i ate some peanutbutter on a slice of bread before bed it will help with morning sugars as ther is alot of portien in it, did you ever hear of that.

It took a few weeks to tweek the insulin so that my readings were all within range before and after meals but in general they were always at the highest after breakfast in the mornings so in the end I was taking 10 units of insulin before b'fast and was taking 5 before lunch and 6 before dinner and 4 units before bed. I always ate before going to bed purely coz I would be starving during the night and it did seem to keep down the first reading but again you cant really compare coz I was on insulin.

Had a GP app yesterday and my urine was perfect thank God. I am now drinking 3 litres of water a day so keeping myself well hydrated. Doc said that this amount of water also helps keep the blood pressure down as the blood circulates better...Another few pound will be lost running to the loo so many times a day :o0

Hope ye are well.

Ahh sorry to hear this Rosie. How do you feel on the insulin can you eat more now or do you still have to watch yourself.

I got the thyroid test done as well but heard nothing back so it must be fine.

I know what you mean about looking forward to having babs, I am the same. It was so hard last Friday night as we had work xmas party, managed fine with the started and main course but then the desert I had to forego and watching everyone chomping into theirs was a killer it was bad enough not drinking when there was a free bar O:| O:| but it will all be worth it.

Hi Rosie. Glad to hear that things are getting easier for you and lucky you having the little bit of choc mmmmmmmmm

Everything going well here thank God. I am back at the diabetic clinic tomorrow but had a check up at the maternity this morning and they were very happy with me. Had a mini scan and baby was looking out at me.

When nurse was checking my urine there was a woman in front of me getting her urine checked and the nurse said oh its full of sugar and then she asked her what she was eating....(this woman has the GD as well) well I nearly died of shock when I heard what her meals were as all her levels were high. One meal was an indian with white rice and the sweet naan bread I thought the nurse was going to kill her ha ha I was jealous though would love to have one of those sweet naans :o0

I have growth scan next Tue and if everything is ok with baby I think I am going to have a dessert on xmas day.

When is your actual due date? It must have been mad last week thinking you were in labour hope everything is ok tomorrow for you.
