Pookie that is so cute!!!

I had my 28 week appt. last week, was only about 15 mins, she did a mini scan too an measured the bump, was a lovely pregnant Dr. who did it, said baby was fine no comps at all so far.
Starting, well continuing my antenatal classes on the 30th of May! I'm also probably pushing it with my dates, I can work up to the 20th, so I'm gong to see how I go, work is dead during the summer and I've been told I can rest as much as I want during the day.
My hips are giving me a bit of hell during the night, I keep waking with a red hot poker pain in them from lying on my side. Also I'm getting a lot of mid and upper back pain from sitting in work all day, but otherwise I'm fine... :o)ll

Hi Elphaba (from my favourite musical!)

I got the 3D scan done in Ultrasound Dimensions, Blackrock. When I was having DD, that was the only place in Dublin that did them and I have just always gone back to her, she's so lovely, plus you can claim some of the cost back on your health insurance. On DD I had an early dating scan and 3D/4D scan and the same for this LO. The 3D/4D scan is truly amazing, it really is fab....plus you get to hear the heartbeat and see the baby move in realtime. :lvs :heartbeat:

I would recommend that you get it done.... I agree some of the pictures can look freaky, but most of them are beautiful. You get around 100 pics on a CD and then 5 or so printed by her. Plus you get a DVD of the whole visit which is about 40 - 60mins, depending if she can get great facial pictures of the LO :wv

Hi everyone, how are you all? I don't know why, but I feel like I've a horrible hangover today...body feels like it's made of lead, I could fall asleep onto my keyboard and my head is full of cotton wool. I wouldn't even mind if I'd had sip or two of something nice last night but it was nothing more exciting than MiWadi! I had my glucose challenge yesterday so need to phone for the results of that later today - fingers crossed. They were going to check my iron too, so maybe if that's a bit low it might explain how I'm feeling today.

On a more fun note, I'm hopefully getting our double buggy today! :o)ll I decided to try to get it second hand and I think I've found the perfect one, so fingers crossed it'll be as good as the photos when I meet the girl today. I'm not sure how I'm going to fit three (I know!) buggies in the porch :-8 Better hide one in the boot of the car before DH has a total conniption!

Saz, in Holles St the only scan you get routinely is the 20ish week one. If your consultant has one in the room at your appt you get a quick one otherwise it's doppler. I had extra scans this time because of the miscarriage so dating was confusing everyone and then another because the midwife couldn't see the heart properly at 22 weeks and I've another at 34 weeks because my placenta is low. I had mega heebie jeebies about 12 weeks so we had a private scan then too. Poor child will come out see through after all the scans :o0

Pookies, I had to laugh at you crying about the creche for your DD - I was exactly the same and now I'm wondering if I can go away for a 3 night thing when the baby will be only 4 months old! I'm self employed and have been asked to do a contract 150 miles away but it'd mean being going for 3 whole days and nights...I'll probably be delighted for the excuse to get away :-8

Everyone has shamed me into getting going with getting the baby's room ready. I've been so busy getting DD into her new room and settled that it's kind of taken a back seat, but I bought paint last week, so I'll get DH to paint the ceiling at the weekend then I'll get going on the walls. I'm planning to co-sleep with lo in our bed so at least I won't have to wedge a cot into our room for a while. I must start getting some of the neutral vests out and washed. Maybe wait for the nicer weather to come back...if it's going to!

Yeah Saz12 I never had a 12 week appt in HS - my first appt there was at 16 weeks (no mini scan just doppler) and I didn't get a scan until 21 weeks. Then I was with consultant at 24 weeks and I'm going to the midwives clinic at 33 weeks. That's all my appointments in HS! I don't have a 28 week one - I'm just heading to my GP next week for an in-between checkup. I'm doing antenatal classes starting 6th June.

Taylor1 - I plan to use a moses basket for the first few months but I have the cot now anyhow as I wanted to get everything set up and ready as this is all new to me! I have been buying/gathering bits and pieces for my hospital bag - just missing the baby clothes as we are waiting to see what we get from SIL. I have a couple of long sleeve sleepsuits, that's all! Ikea have nice comfy flip-flops for around €3 which is brilliant. And I already have some washable breast pads and other things like that which I got in Boots.

I have all the furniture for baby's room bought but I have loads of work to do to clear out the stuff that's in there already! And then it needs painting and carpet put down too :eek

Panini - Hope your glucose levels come out ok!!

Oops, I totally forgot to ring them for the results! I'm obviously too excited about the new buggy which is now in the porch, along with the other 2 :-8 Maybe I could string 'em all together and be a short term baby walker until I go on mat leave :o0

Uhhhh I started investigating creches near where I work as I'll need to book a place for baby when I return to work in Feb next year. The fees are so high it's a bit scary! But I will need to go back to work as DH can't pay the mortgage, bills and loans by himself!! It's just another thing I have to organise, plan and budget for...

Anyone else looking at creches? I'm not sure if it's cheaper to look at places near where I live in D7 or out where I work in D22. Going to try and shop around a bit. I don't want to be stuck with somewhere unsuitable / expensive as a last resort, so I want to book a place somewhere I'm happy with as soon as possible!!

we're lucky we have both sets of grand parents to help, buuttttttttt we've always been advised to go for a creche near our home, you might change jobs, plus if you're sick you won't want to trek out to work to drop the baby off then home again, similarly if you have to take a days leave to do something and want to leave the baby in creche.

I'd definitely go for a creche/childminder close to home. As Elphaba says, you never know what's going to come up and having to trek to work to drop/collect is likely to add stress in the long run. I'm already stressing about the amount it's going to be for 2 of them in the creche...

girls those 3d scans are gorgeous!

congrats on the new buggy Panini! well wear :)

been having problems logging in so just get fed up and dont bother alot of the time..ggrrr
Small scare few days ago had a small bleed and had to got to hospital to be checked out. All seemed okay TG but they didnt offer any reason but warned me to come straight in if it happens again, any pains or concerns. just have to 'take it easy'!! easier said than done *)

Have nearly all my bits n pieces ready for the bag now, just have to dig out some neutral stuff for babs and wash it and pretty much im ready with the basics. Wont be bothering with luxuries til closer to full term.

Hey ladies..

Bit on an eventful day today. Had my routine GP check up this afternoon. She checked the baby's heart rate and told me its very low so she assumed baby was sleeping, gave my tummy a few nudges and i got lots of movement but she said the heart rate was still to low. (I remember being told by the doc in the hosp that anything from 110 - 160 is perfectally normal.
The gp told me to go to the hospital. I was on my own the look of worry on her face sent me into hysterics, I was thinking all sorts plus i was on my own I had to drive an hour to the hospital balling my eyes out and when i got to the hosp i was seen to straight away. My GP gave me a letter to give to the doc in the hospital the heart rate she put on the letter 120 which was well within range.
The doc at the hospital was furious that my GP sent me in for no reason as the hear rate was normal. They scanned me, put me on a trace for an hour and everything was perfect. Again the doc at the hospital was so dumbfounded that i would be sent in and she told me that my GP if she was any sort of a GP she would know this is normal. Its more dangerous for me to drive an hour thinking all sorts for no reason...I'm furious!!!

Hiya girls,

Hope your all well.
Had a bit of a episode myself. Was admitted to hospital on Monday, not sure what it was but think it was viral as all tests and bloods were clear. But baby is doing great so that's the main thing. Had a growth scan while I was in there, baby weighs 2.9 pound now so is right on track.

Is anyone not gonna bother with antinatal classes?

Foxylocks, you poor thing that must have been really scary.

Those 3d scans look so cool, wud love to get one but I'm
Already forking out to go private so not paying anymore money for scans!

I'm going to pack my labour/hospital bag over the weekend, cause when I was admitted late, hubby went home to pick up some stuff, well the stuff he came back with! God love him. I told him to bring in pjs (my big ass strechy ones that were just washed) well he came back with a pair that I had since the wedding, could just about get them
Over my bum!! So will keep a bag at the door in the future! :o0

Hmm... I'm going to have a think about this. There are some really good places out near where I work as they are purpose-built and have free car parking and easy access on my route to and from work. But the places where I live are more difficult to get to and I would have to go a bit out of my way every day, twice a day, to pick up LO. And not so many of them are purpose built or have parking or nice outdoor space like the ones out where I work. I think I'll have to look at both options and weigh up the pros and cons. I understand what you're saying about choosing a place close to home so it will be easy to drop LO off when I have a day's leave or something comes up, but actually my commute to work is only around 20mins so it's not so much of a trek at all. I just have a feeling the creches near my workplace have better facilities. And one place does a 10% discount if there's a few people from the same office with their kids in the same place, and €95pm saving is quite substantial!! Well I'm going to do my research anyhow, and thanks for the advice :wv It always helps to ask other people about these things.

Foxy - that sounds awful to have gone through that when there was nothing wrong. Sounds like an ordeal!
Glad to hear everyone is ok after little scares and things.

I'm off to Aldi at lunchtime to see if there's any muslin cloths (3 pack for €2.79) and sleepsuits (3 pack for €4.99) left from yesterday.
One of you girls mentioned the Aldi baby stuff on the FB page, so I thought I'd put the link up here for those who aren't on FB:
http://www.aldi.ie/ie/html/offers/offers_week19Thursday12.htm?WT.z_src=main

I'm planning to go swimming tomorrow morning! Think I'm getting a taste for it - it's such a nice way to get some all-over exercise! Seeing as I don't really get any other exercise and I haven't managed to get back to the yoga class to give it a second go.

What's everyone up to for the weekend? I'm going to make a start on packing the hospital bag too - some of the little scare stories have made me think I'd better be prepared!
