Whats causing Migraine (at my wits end!!)

Re: Whats causing Migraine (at my wits end!!)

Hi, I was admitted to the Coombe in the new year because of a migraine that lasted for 4 days. I'm pregnant and that may have complicated things and I also had a very bad chest infection. But the migraine was the worst I have ever had. I just couldnt cope with it. Could barely lift my head. It turned out I was very dehydrated. It was weird because I was eating and drinking all over xmas and wasn't even thirsty. But, i was in a bad way with it. Within about an hour of being put on a drip, I felt better. Two hours later the migraine was gone and hasn't come back since (touch wood).
It might be worth just checking with your GP and doing a urine test just to be sure.

Well folks I was carted into a&e by ambulance from my GP's surgery. Had to have 2 CT scans yesterday and one more this morning.

Freaking out isn't the word. It turns out I have a severe sinus infection that has caused a build up of fluid at the back of my head.

On IV antibiotics at the mo (think I am finished them tonight) and hopefully get to go home in the morning.

Just goes to show you can have an infection without a temperature and have a sinus problem without so much as a sniffle.

Still can't believe it.

(Think the ambulance thing was a bit much - I think it was more so to get me through the traffic on a Fri evening of bank holiday!)

Thanks for the comments ladies- feeling very sorry for myself :o(

Oh you poor thing!! My mam used to suffer bad from sinus infections all the time and then one x mas i got one, the pain was so bad it came down through my teeth, every tooth in my head felt like it had its nerves exposed i thought my head was going to explode, I blew my nose at one stage and it honestly felt like someone had hammered a chisel straight into the middle of my face, i felt pain in a place i didnt even know was there, i had a severe sinus infection and was off work for 3 weeks it was horrible. I got them religiously after that , i would have them constant for months on end. I ended up being put on an antihistamine full time for a year or two and that helped alot. I havnt been on them now in over 2 years since i started ttc for my 1st.

I do occasionaly get them and they are a B1tch. A decongestant is good, but there is something call NeilMed Sinus Rinse. Its like a sports bottle you fill with cooled boiled water and these sachets that all come in a box and your rinse out your sinus. I find it great, that and simply steaming my head.

ETA the sinus rinse can be bought at any health shop

Are you a smoker ? Because that wont help your sinus.

Also you dont have to have a runny nose to have a sinus infection, the pain in your cheeks and a dull feeling in your head, hopefuly you'l recognise the sign quicker next time.

Well ladies the pain returned Tues evening- am off to docs again this evening....

Hospital said the last day if the pain persists that I might need a small procedure done on my sinus as where its building is putting pressure on my brain.

Oh the drama.

That now and my H2B just out of hernia repair- we are well matched I tells ya

Well ladies- I am alive thank the lord!!

All is well- scan showed that the sinus build up was sitting on a nerve in the back of my head which wasn't helping with the pain. It has reduced since scan on Friday and Sat so no need for surgery thankfully.

As I have never really suffered from my sinus' before- they think that this was possibly a one off due to being run down/ stressed etc.

Starting to feel better now- yey!

Hope your sinus was a once off unlike mine !
