Thunderstruck at Wedding Receptions

Thunderstruck at Wedding Receptions

Postby Finicky Fi » Mon Apr 30, 2022 7:40 pm

Does anyone know who is responsible for starting the 'tradition' that is men wearing their ties as head bands, trousers rolled up, playing air guitar thrashing and head banging to Thunderstruck at wedding receptions?
I've been going to weddings for nearly 15 years and it's always been done.

I know some people hate it but I think it's fun.

Trousers are rolled up because Angus from AC/DC wears short trousers!
Love this, was done at my wedding, so funny one of my neighbours rolled up his trousers and played along then when it was all over he was asking what it was for!! :o0

Abslutely hate it, i was at a wedding in Sligo recently and they played it, not only were the men head banging to beat the band but a girl got up on the top table (which was cleared at this point) and pulled up her dress and left little to the imagination when she was headbanging and running up and down the top table.
Absolutely dreadful to look at, like caged animals allowed out for the night.
Down with that sorta thing!!!!

Oh I think its such a laugh. A time for men to act like boys and us womenfolk to laugh along AT them.

Always makes me smile and one of my favourite parts of the dancing part of each wedding :o0

Exactly! It wasn't the song that made that girl in Sligo expose herself!

We had it at our wedding but it didn't make people go mental, yes there was air guitar (myself included as a guitarist!) but it was all in good fun, a great floor filler and definitely no one exposing themselves!

Well that makes great sense.
I thought that a random wedding guest somewhere in Ireland just erratically started a trend! :-8

I hear what your saying but if it was bananarama or something like that then i can guarantee you she wouldnt have been on the top table giving it socks :eek
In my mind it was and it wasnt the song, clearly she was well oiled but as soon as that song came on she went nuts!
I wouldnt be a fan of the song at a wedding, mostly from what i saw of it from that girl. But each to their own eh ;o)

We didn't ask for this to be be played but left some song choices up to the DJs discretion. This went down a storm. It was a great laugh but to each his own. Personally I don't like Rock the Boat or the Siege of Ennis at weddings... but I'd join in the spirit of it for the couple. It's all subjective.
