Anyone starting IVF/ICSI in Sims soon?

Re: Anyone starting IVF/ICSI in Sims soon?

thank you sooo much for the information. I am in the UK but planning to move back to ireland within the next few months.

One more question, is there a waiting list with Sims? over in the UK I can almost just ring up one month and start a cycle the next, is it the same in Ireland?

No worries hon - yeah, there would be a bit of a waiting list, when I started it was December 2009 and I sent them back the forms with a cover letter saying I'd take a cancellation and I got an appt in about 2 weeks so it was quick enough. Not sure how it is now but I dont' think it's much different, defo do say you'll take a cancellation. I'd say once you're in, if they and you are happy to start quickly you probably could.

Having just cycled in ARGC in London, I will say the one good thing about cycling in Ireland is only having to pay the Eur120 for the meds on the DPS. So there is a massive saving there, the girls I was cycling with in London were paying through the nose for all their meds.

Hi ladies, god its been a while since I posted here! We've been taking break from the whole IVF thing for the past few months. We cycled for the 2nd time back in April but unfortunately it ended in m/c again. We swore we wouldnt do it again without ticking every box possible and getting every test we could. I know I have AI issues so we changed doctors to Dr O. Found him lovely. He gave us a list of bloods we could get done through our GP and some I could get done in work (im lucky enough to work in a hospital). Some of the bloods are from a panel called implantation failure bloods, we also got Karotyping bloods done (both myself and husband), plus we bit the bullet and got the chicago bloods done.

Hopeful, I know you got these bloods done. Do you mind me asking what meds they put you on for your elevated levels?

My results were:
NK Assay
CD19 - 1.3 (limit is 2-12)
CD56 - 35.7 (limit 2-12) - very elevated
CD19+cells, CD5+ - 1.0 (limit 5-10)
Cytokine ratio
TNF - 31.0 (limit 13.2-30.6)
IFN - 11.5 (limit 5.8-20.5) ok I think

We still have a few more tests to get done before we go back for our review so im not too sure what to expect. Im thinking he'll just put me on meds, then re-test and then cycle.

Anyone else get these bloods done??

Hey MrsBig

good to hear from you hon x

Glad you were able to change to Dr. O you're in good hands there. Defo the best with your immune issues.

What did your chicagos show, re IVIG vs IL? I'd say they'll put you on steroids, clexane and aspirin anyway, and then either IVIG or IL but that will depend on which showed up to work better with your bloods. Your TNF alpha is only slightly over the 30 mark, if it was me I wouldn't go on Humira, I've seen it send people's cytokines up as much as down, it just seems so hit and miss and really the IL should keep them in check when you're cycling. Then again that's your choice. It'll be interesting to see if Dr. O advises you to take Humira or not.

When I got my chicagos done through ARGC during my monitoring cycle in April they came back at 64!!! But I put that down to the wheatgrass I'd started taking to try and bring down my FSH. Anyway, took two humira, brought down to 44, then took two more humira. Didn't get them retested I don't think. They gave me intralipids a few days before EC and IVIG after ET. I was also on dexamethasone, then prednisolone then back to dexamethasone (steroids); 75mg aspirin daily and I think I was on 2 clexane a day.

Best of luck with your next cycle, when do you think that'll be? How are you finding sims these days?

Interesting....thanks hopeful.

Cant seem to see on the results where is shows IVIG v's IL? Maybe that wasnt tested? I was on Prednisolone, Clexane and Intralipids on my last cycle so im curious as to what they'll put me on now. I seem to get pregnant each time I cycle but just cant hold onto it. I think it has to do with my killer cells. Havent been in Sims since July when we got the bloods done, we just have to go back when we have everything done that they asked. Hopefully we'll cycle early next year, dont think we can afford it this side of christmas TBH. Looking forward to cycling in the new clinic, they seem to be running a little more efficiently since the move.

How are things going with you? Are you going to cycle again in London or chance the move back to Sims?

Hmmm it should show somewhere on the Chicago bloods results where your sample was treated with IL and IVIG, how much of a reduction occurred? One of the main points of doing the chicago bloods is to test your blood (that's why they take so many vials) against intralipids and IVIG to see which works better, and hence you'd be given that treatment.

Did you ever get tested for Hidden C through the place in Athens (nothing to do with sims)? I tested positive for it during the summer, actually got the result while I was cycling in London. The clinic there put me on a few antib's but not many. There is a full protocol re antibiotics that will clear it that both myself and DH would have to take (as you can pass the infection back and forth to each other when BDing). My point is I read testing positive for Hidden C can be linked to brown bleeding and high cytokines amongst other things (both of which I have). Maybe that would be something you could talk to Dr. O about? I remember on my second IVF (which worked but then we lost it) we were both put on a week's antibiotics so that always sticks in my mind, they called it some joint protocol can't remember what now though.

won't be cycling with ARGC again anyway, I'm looking into Napro at the moment, may as well do it while we save up for another IVF cycle, if we do do another cycle it'll be next year sometime...

Hi,

Also posted this in the main board below.

We have been told we need IVF starting April and will be having intralipid infusion along with a Microflare Protocol. Still trying to get my head around all the lingo.

Has anyone else had intralipid infusion and did you feel it benefited you, etc.? Any thoughts on it would be great.

Thanks in advance for your replies xx

Lizzie, I did flare protocol with Sims on my second IVF. I had also asked them to prescribe me intralipids for the cycle (kitchen sink cycle) so also had two infusions before and during the cycle. We did get a BFP from it but it was short lived unfortunately. I subsequently got my chicago bloods tested and I had high cytokines so went on to have sevearl infusions of intralipids over my third and fourth cycles.

I had a consult with Dr. George Ndukwe in Zita West after my failed cycle in ARGC (my fourth) and he said given Humira doesn't work on me (and I've taken it many times to try and combat my high cytokines) that he would give me 3 intralipids infusions before a cycle and another three probably while cycling and just after ET or something like that.

I definitely think if the infusions are timed correctly that they can be of huge benefit. Your Chicago bloods would show which help you more, IVIG or Intralipids. In my case intralipids had as good an affect on me as IVIG thankfully (as IVIG is very expensive).

best of luck with your cycle
