Our is definately costing less than that, apart from honeymoon which is a gift from our families (travel voucher so we can decide).

That's us to, we're on a budget of about €12k (there or thereabouts, depends on venue negotiations go and how good the corkage can be!), but if we spend more on the wedding there is less to spend on the house, so every time I think "a chocolate fountain would be a nice touch" I swiftly calculate how much renovationing that would get us!!

Having said that, I don't think we're compromising TOO much, it'll be a great day for family and friends, we want them to get a slap up meal and keep the drink (non-alcohlic too!!) flowing and have a boogie!!!

We are really trying to reign in the costs but there is always something i feel... I went back over the budget and we are looking at E30k + including HM... WTF!!!! now we are having everything and everyone we want for that but Im really hoping that we can have our savings in time for it!!! Our parents have said they will now pay for the venue (didnt expect or want it but my parents said they want to see us enjoy money while they are alive and not dead!! Morbid or what!!). I have done serious negotiation with hotel and have all in for about E50 per head as well. Its a fantastic help but even with that we need to come up with the bones of E15k ourselves...

As i said to OH on sunday.. its really only E150 to get married... Where the hell is the other E29850 going!!!!! But we work hard and can afford it all going well with jobs etc so its our choice and no point complaining!!

I am not even including honeymoon in the wedding budget as we are going on nearly a month long holiday - and I don't think that should come under wedding costs

The costs keep going up - as does the guest list - but we're only going to do this once :)

And with more guests it will cost more - the biggest expense is the venue which is totally dependent on the number of guests

We are spending a fair bit on band and photos - but I think these are very important

And I fell in love with a dress that I couldn't leave behind - and with four BMs and best man and three groomsmen the expenses add up..

But as I said we will only do this once and it will be worth it :)

We're looking at about 12K for the wedding itself and then about 5K on the honeymoon cause we want it to be something that will be as amazing as the day itself :xox . The honeymoon money is being kept separate though so that we don't borrow from there and get into debt. We are just at the start but it's mind boggling how the budgets could get out of control! O:|

Oh god i hear you girls I thought I would do it no bother for 15-20K and now we are at 23K without HM. I sit and stare at the speadsheet everynight and I cant see where I can cut costs. The only thing I can do is cut down on the menu but OH says that the meal is the most important part and its something that will always be talked about if the meal is crap. I have gone for an expensive (2K) photographer but only because I am the most unphotogenic person ever and this guy does more contemporary style than the more tradtional posed style . I could have got someone for half the price but I know I would hate myself in every one. I dont think we have gone over board on anything else. i have no favours, going for cup cakes because they are half the price of a normal cake. have only budgeted 500 euro for flowers! & have sourced the sample of my dress which I can get for 900 quid less that retail price!!! I cant believe its all adding up to 23K and I have yet to book a honeymoon!!! In fairness we both have good jobs and are saving mad so the money should be there (please god) but when i think about it I feel guilty at spending that amt of money when there are people I know who cant afford to pay their mortgage. MY OH said to me tonight that he thinks I am having doubts about the wedding and he was worried. i told him its the money aspect thats freaking me out and not actually getting married. poor fella thought I was going to be a run away bride :duh:

Do you mean you're going to use your accessories and then return them for refunds?

No, of course not. I just meant that if you are buying online it is a good idea to check the policy of the company you are buying from to make sure you can return goods if you don't like them. Just because I'm talking about how to save money doesn't mean I'm dishonest.

you make a good point on checking the returns policy of items bought, regardless of whether online or in store, I know I've been caught a few times with Ted Baker who will only give a credit note (which is well within their rights I know!) - but I think maybe MrsP was just asking a question for clarification, as it's not entirely clear on posts sometimes, that's all :wv

We're definitely not going over 10k, we're both saving hard to buy a house so don't want to end up in debt for the wedding.

We are saving for a house and a wedding, but we have budgeted at max 20 k for everything including honeymoon which prob wont happen and at the moment we are well under thank god. However it is scary as I am only working part time but have 5k put away and oh is saving hard so we should be ok. I too want the day I have always dreamed of but doing as much diy as humanly possible, invites, cakes, flowers etc

It is scary to think how much we are going to spend.....

Its mad money isnt it!!! suppose it depends on what you want on the day.. i think its can be done on a very very tight budget but you have to flexible as to what you want, like bm color/style of dresses as sales often dont give a lot of options.
When you have a very specific image of the day in your head a tight budget is difficult.
