Whats causing Migraine (at my wits end!!)
Girls,
Had a headache which developed into a migraine last Sunday and it hasn't left me since. Its literally driving me nuts. Its like my brain is trying to escape from my head. I went to the dreaded dentist in case it was from grinding (dentist mentioned that I needed a bite guard) he said I am grinding but that it wouldnt cause the headaches that I am getting, more so muscle tension and ear ache etc. Got the mouth guard (ordered) so ruled that one out. Then I decided I must be straining my eyes at work and that my glasses for PC need to be re-done. Off I went to Specsavers and they told me there has been no change at all so everything is all right there. My last port of call will be the doctor on Monday if this doesnt go away. Has anyone any tips for me? Reasons why it would last for 5 days? I find it difficult to sleep this week because head is so sore. I managed the gym on Monday and Tues and it did kind of help but about an hour after each session the headache returned. I couldnt go last night because it hurt even to walk- so went to bed with a towel over my eyes and just lay there. It actually brought me to tears and I can only sympathize with anyone that suffers from chronic headaches. Never in my life have I experienced anything like this... HELP ME PLEASE!! A friend of mine gets awful migraines if she eats chocolate or drinks red wine- maybe something your eating is bringing them on?
Re: Whats causing Migraine (at my wits end!!)
Are you on the pill? It can cause migraines.

Re: Whats causing Migraine (at my wits end!!)
OMG is it really the Pill? On the pill for the last 7 years too... I just wouldn't have thought it was that...
I will try anything at this stage. Defo not choc or wine- on diet since 4th Jan and although I would love to blame both it certainly isn't foods... Its just so weird it happened so suddenly on Sunday and now it won't go away [url=http://www.TickerFactory.com/]

Re: Whats causing Migraine (at my wits end!!)
I don't believe it. Its just as well that I posted this thread so because I would never have made that link. I finished my 7 day break on Monday so already had the headache a day at that stage....
Thinking of it now - this does not bode well for me , 9 months before the wedding and the prospect of being told stop the pill!! [url=http://www.TickerFactory.com/]

Yep the pill is a b1tch with migraines. I don't get them anymore since coming off it. Can't remember if it was instant relief. Cheese can trigger migraines too, do you eat much cheese? Are you dehydrated?
Re: Whats causing Migraine (at my wits end!!)
Eefc i can sympathise, i suffer from migraines every month sometimes lasting 4 days so i know what ur going through and my god i feel for ya...
Ok so you do really need to go t the doc, i would def go today or to the doc on call at the weekend. The longer you leave it the harder it is to kill the pain so try to get an app asap and never leave it and think ah sure itll go away...Its probably too late now but next time you feel one coming on take 2 pink migraleve (i carry them EVERYWHERE!!) do not let the mograine develop into a fullblown one, hit it hard at the start.. The doc put me on daily medication to make the migraine more manageable so ask about getting a beta blocker.. Track migraines, what did you eat or drink that day.. is there a pattern? For me every month without fail i get one 2/3 days before my period, could it be menstrual migraine? Im sorry if thats an overload of info but u really need to get to doc today or tomoro, do not suffer with it..Let us know how u get on with the doc..
Re: Whats causing Migraine (at my wits end!!)
Think back though for the past few months have you noticed slight headaches around this time of the month but they just weren’t that bad that you passed much notice?
As synergy said dehyradation is another cause of headaches though Last edited by morningsun on Fri Mar 16, 2022 11:53 am, edited 1 time in total.
Re: Whats causing Migraine (at my wits end!!)
Thanks girls - lots of great info there.
Nope - no cheese here- can't while on this diet. My sister gets them from eating cheese actually. I generally drink about 1.5 - 2.5 litres of water a day because of diet also so defo not dehydrated! Ya the doctor thing- i suppose I will have to give in and go. I hate spending money on the doctor- especially the cost of prescriptions these days. But its getting to the point of desperation so will have to. Never really had a migraine around the time of AF before -this would be the first one. I very rarely get migraines- maybe once every 3-4 months or something. And I know the diff between migraine and headache at this stage Thanks for all your help ladies- defo not a good sign if I am at the point of tears [url=http://www.TickerFactory.com/]

Funny I've a massive headache right now!!
Just to say I'd think hard about coming off the pill until you've ruled out everthing else! I'm off the pill a few months and today I've got the most horrible headache...I was feeling sick there a while ago so I think it might have been turning into a migrain but it's calmed a bit now thank god. So in my case, it's not the pill! One thing I will say that if you're on a strict diet (sounds like you might be) and you're drinking upwards of 2 ltrs of water you could be over-hydrated...the salts in your body get over-diluted and it can cause headaches. I would definitely go to the doc as soon as you can (not just coz you have a migrain but you have a five day one!!) just to make sure it's nothing serious...I'm sure it isn't but just in case! Hope you feel better soon! [url=http://www.TickerFactory.com/]

I get very bad headaches and that is to do with me holding tension in my back and shoulders. I work at a desk and have a tendancy to hunch. Maybe you need a trip to a physio?

mine are hormone linked. I stopped the pill 10months before my wedding
they improved greatly although when my period was due I'd still get them because the hormones. solphedine n difene were my life saver. I use to know they were comin on because I'd go into a cleaning frenzy
Re: Whats causing Migraine (at my wits end!!)
Do you suffer with your sinuses? it can cause the most horrific headaches as the pressure causes so much pain, i am dying with sinus related headache at the moment, i usually find sudafed/actifed good and a nasal spray.
Its def migraine if light hurts your eyes, i would suggest a trip to good pharmacy where they can give you something over the counter if its sinus or migraine, if it continues for a few more days or gets worse i would go see your gp, dont suffer. I hope you feel better, nothing worse than a headache x
Re: Whats causing Migraine (at my wits end!!)
I used to get a migraine at least once a week and continuously throughout my period. I gave up tea and coffee and started reflexology ( once a week for 4 weeks and now once every month). I have only had 1 - 2 migraines since and nothing near as bad as they were before. Also my periods are so much better now as I was at the point where I would be no good to anyone for 2 days of the month.
