Mrs2babridesoon - sorry to hear your IUI was cancelled but hopefully the TSI will do the trick! This is my first month on clomid and my cons prescribed it from cd 1-3 which seems very different to what everyone else is on. For starters i'm only on it for 3 days not the 5 like everyone else, however she did say that she was starting me on a small dose as she wants to see how i respond to it as if i was someone who responded well i could end up with a multiple pregnancy and also then it seems funny that its cd 1-3 i'm supposed to take it. It was cd 5 before i started it this month though as thats the day i was in to see her but the next 2 cycles of it are prescribed for cd 1-3! Can you shed any light on this for me?

thisyearslove - i think we started the clomid on the same day but i was only on it for 3 days so finished it 2 days before you. Do you mind me asking how you know that you ov'd? I know you said in an earlier post that you are using opk's and you hadn't had a positive as of last fri. When did you get your positive? I'm not sure if i have ov'd yet as i had stopped temping but i will start temping again next cycle. Haven't been using opk's either as i've had no luck with them in the past and i haven't had much in the way of cm this month but i know that being on the clomid i might not get any anyways so i don't really know where i am. It's been 12 days since i took the last clomid tab so i suppose if it worked i probably have ov'd at this stage! Are you temping to confirm ovulation? Did you take the cough medicine. Sorry for all the questions!
Came off pill Jan 2011 but very long and irregular cycles.

No probs with the questions Mar09! Yes I think we both went to our cons on CD5 and started clomid that day. I took it for 5 days and next month have to take it from CD2-6.

I don't temp but did use OPK's. I got a negative on Saturday morning CD16 & a positive that evening. Then with the cramps yesterday on CD18 I am assuming that was ovulation. I also have VERY little EWCM, usually this is not a problem for me. I used preseed a couple of times and took Exputex cough medicing, this is the one my cons told me to take. I have take robutussin on a number of previous cycles. This one has different ingredients - just hope it is correct to use?!?! My cons seemed adament!

I did read somewhere that ovulation usually occurs 5-9 days after the last pill, not sure how true that is.

Are you being scanned? I am not, I'm beginning to think maybe I should be - how else do they know the clomid is doing what is should!?!?

On my 1st preg I was with her weekly and my friend also gave me treatment quite often (think I went a bit overboard!!) I also took agnus cactus and me and hubby both took ractus asparagus. It took 2months for a bfp. This time I had treatment before ov and again a week later and pos another if I felt stressed b4 witch due!! Me and hubs took the ractus asparagus again but I had to stop taking it when I started Clomid. It took 3 months of treatments and my prog was at 12 at 7dpo!! Hope this helps and good luck.
Thisyrlove I just had one cycle of Clomid.

Yip i read that too which is why i think i should have ovulated by now but i don't think i have. I have been experiencing cramps in my lower abdomen the last few days. Hopefully its a sign of something stirring!

I'm not being scanned either. Think most clinics try you on the clomid on its own first and if it doesn't work they move you to injections which involves monitoring by scanning. I do have to have my day 21 bloods done alright so that will show them if the clomid worked cos if it did i will have ovulated and my progestrone levels will reflect that. I won't be getting them done on cd 21 though as she wants me to do them 3 weeks to the day that i started the clomid which was day 5 so really it'll be cd26!

I really thought i would relax more now that i know i'm on the road to something but i'm still obsessing a bit! Decided i was going to give the clomid one month on its own to see what happens but now i wish i had temped and had a session or two of acupuncture!

To be honest i won't mind if AF arrives as long as it means i ovulated and at least i will have had a regular cycle. My bigger dread would be that the bloods next week won't confirm ovulation and then its back to the waiting game for my af to arrive which took 6 months last cycle. I suppose though at least i know that now that i'm with the clinic they won't allow that to happen again but still i'll have to give it 60 days before they'll do something. Just hope it doesn't take that long!I know the two week wait is a pain but at least you know you're on it. Hope to join you soon, not that i'll know whether i'm on it or not! :duh:

girls can i just add my tuppence worth if u dont mind re clomid i really think there is no point being on it if you are not being scanned
the reason i say this is my gynae wanted me to go on it for 6 mths and come back if i didnt get pregnant, so i tried it for 2 mths, and got regular 7dpo bloods to check progesterone
well it transpired my prog was low never got high and even with clomid i wasnt ovulating on my own, so i was wasting these cycles and more importantly wasting these eggs
its also very important to scan to insure you dont have multiple dominant follicles
(
i was then told by gynae that you cant be on clomid for more than 6 rounds due to recent news on breast cancer/ovarian scares later in life so i took the decision to stop going to gyane and got him to refer me to cork fertility centre

immediately they put me on monitored cycles, regular scans and then they gave me pregnyl to push ovulation, unfortunately im having issues with my thyroid so ive had to stop for awhile but ill be hopefully going back for my last 2 clomid cycles soon
if they dont work then they move onto injections but again with regular scans so i would just say to you to push for scanned cycles you are going through so much being on clomid in the first place i know how it feels to find out i was peeing agaisnt the wind basically for a few mths on non monitored cycles so just want to stop anyone else feeling like me down the line :wv

[quote="Mrs2babridesoon"]Hi all, well my first IUI has been cancelled, I don't think conditions were ideal, I am on CD15 and had only one follie which was only 18.5 today, so we are changing it too a timed sexual intercourse cycle I take my trigger this evening.
I had finished Clomid for the IUI cycle and had started on injections which were fine and I had no issue with it at all, my lining was good but I am also on baby aspirin for it.

Hey Dollars, will we ever get there :o0 Its hurdle after hurdle... Fibroids as far as I know can't be shrunk without giving you tabs that totally go against fertility, the tablets put you into a menopausal state hormone wise. Hope your hanging in there and that the new meds are doing the trick.

mrs2b i dont understand why your clinic abandoned your iui at only cd15, plus your follicle was 18.5 , i trigger at a folly that size usually between cd15 and cd22c, they better not have charged you for the iui

nowmrsb ah no sorry hun at least with the ivf i suppose its putting it straight in there isnt it so increases te chances for you,

we will all get there :babydust:

I have such an issue with Clomid being prescribed with out monitoring. I totally agree with Dollars re the unmonitored Clomid cycles I did 6 months of Clomid with out being monitored this was by a Gynae but she wasn't a fertility expert, my fertility consultant said that even thou I had good Progesterone levels she said without being monitored they have no idea what went on in the cycle's. I feel this process was a total waste of time and I will always worry what harm I may have put myself in, in the future as I have done 8 rounds of Clomid. I went on to have another two cycles of 100mg's Clomid monitored, in both I had follicles but in the second cycle my Progesterone was only in the 20's so I think that means there wasn't an egg in the follicle.

Dollars to be honest I was happy it was cancelled, I truly felt conditions weren't right, I have a friend who used be a fertility nurse and she said with IUI your bloods (Estradiol readings, E2) are very important to get a whole picture of what is happening with the follicles and even thou they took the bloods they never got the second E2 reading back from the Lab. Only found out today I wasn't charged for the IUI I thought I would have been, they only charge me for a follicle tracking cycle which was very reasonable. I ovulated yesterday and we did the baby dance yesterday 36 hours after trigger shot and again last night so we hopefully have our selves covered. I have been thinking that IUI is so similar to TSI that are we better to totally by pass IUI and go straight for IVF? Hubby is eager to try one round of IUI @ €850.

Joey58 congrats!

Feel slightly concerned now about the whole scanning/monitoring thing while taking clomid

My consultant (not fertility clinic) really played it down, said it isn't necessary and will only add to my "stress" about the whole thing. I think he wants me to relax about the whole TTC (at this stage I genuinely feel that's impossible). I don't even know if this is a service offered in Mt Carmel?

I have heard of a clinic in town that do follicle tracking for just €150 per cycle (up to 5 scans), as a stand alone service. Do you think it would be worth doing this myself while on the clomid??

Thanks for the advice girls. I'm going to see this cycle through and i'll be having my day 21 bloods done and if they don't show ovulation when i ring for the results i will ask about being monitored for next cycle. My cons has only started me on a very small dose 50mg for 3 days so i'm not too worried or hopeful for this cycle. She said that this dose doesn't result in ovulation which she will be able to see by my prog levels then she'll increase the dose so i don't really feel that it is a wasted cycle. Even if i was being scanned and the dose wasn't high enough to induce ovulation then it would still be 1 out of the 6 cycles used anyways.

Please god i won't need to worry about having 6 cycles but i definately feel that i will nee the 2nd one as it doesn't look like i've ov'd yet and its been 14 days since i took the last clomid tab!

Sorry had long post written don't know where it went >:o(

Hi thisyearslove, sorry, didn't mean to concern you, but if I had my time back I wouldn't have done those 6 cycles of Clomid unmonitored sure we learned nothing from it! I went straight from my GP's after 6 months to a Gynaecologist/Obstetrician for 6 months this was a total waste of time as fertility wasn't her field, I should have gone straight to the Consultant @ the fertility Clinic. I think for good quality of care and good continuity of care you should be with the fertility specialists only.

The one thing that has caused me stress in this whole process is the unknown! Scans only help to build a picture of what is going on in your uterus each cycle and then when things were less than idea each cycle I was prepared for possible failure of a cycle! In stead of hoping in vain!

My clinic charges similar price as above and it was so informative.

Good luck thisyearslove.

Hi Ladies,
This is my first month on Clomid. I am being monitored thru the fertility clinic, i went for my scan on CD12 today and i really confused
The nurse said i either have 3 follicles growing or 3 big cysts, she cant tell for sure. She said that if they were follicles she would have expected the lining of the womb to be thicker. She gave me pregnyl to push ovulation however she advised have against DTD until they know whether they are follicles or cysts. She scheduled a follow up scan for next week before my period to see.

I have PCOS and they scanned me last month for my initial consult, they confirmed the PCOS but cysts never came up at that stage. She advised that they could be cysts that grow and shrink depending on where you are in your cycle but there was one which she said looked like it was there longer. If this was the case why didnt they pick it up last month.

I am quite upset about the whole thing, its another month gone and another month without conceiving.
I'd nearly be tempted to DTD anyway!

Anyone have any thoughts/insight?

Thanks girls
